As some of you know, I've got my girlie rolling around in a rather nice E36 compact so we decided to go for a little drive. Accompanied by fellow E36 owners 320touring, his bro, my bro and a few lovely ladies we set off for a little drive to the nurburgring... via Luxembourg, Strasburg, Lucerne, several Alpine passes, Karlsruhe then to the ring :)

about 1500 miles for me and my bro, 2500 miles for Neil and his bro (scotland being a longer drive to dover than our trip from sussex...!) with no mechanical dramas to report apart from a 328 with a thirst for engine oil! Good little cars, though less comfortable on a looooong run than a E30 i feel, maybe just down to the seats.

Anyway, pics: enjoy

Cheers fella :)

We saw a few MINT (and i really do mean mint) E30 cabs in Luxembourg and a fair few nice toys at the 'ring as usual.

The ford GT that passed us at somewhere upwards of 150mph on the autobahn was pretty cool too :)

Well, I've got one that's been to scotland a few times, to the ring a few times, down to Italy via the Alps etc. Mr 320touring has one that's done that and more, but as we've got E36's we thought we'd fetch the little bro's along in their E36's and give them a go :D

This was the E30's trip last year

Gareth to answer your question on the other thread: I'm not really sure! Lol

We did a similar route to you by the looks of it. Basically dunkirk-Luxembourg-lake lucerne- south east to use the San bernardino on your recommendation- livingo-stelvio- then north east to Austrian border along lots of other passes. After that I spent most of my time on autoroutes. Salzbug - Munich - Stuttgart - nurburgring.

Whilst navigating through Switzerland we went on a few passes as we couldn't use the autoroutes due to no vignette. The sat nav did it's best to get us on them though! We only strayed onto one for around 5 miles.

Your trip looks ace. I wish I'd got out of the car more to take photos as nearly all are my GF taking them from inside the car. The biggest problem was that the handbrake wasn't working and we underestimated how long it would take to do 300 miles when most of it is on alpine passes.

:o :o

m42b18 on stock suspension and brakes FTW!

always the underdog :D

Alpine passes are a doddle- most of em have 2 lanes..
Best bit is, the Burd enjoyed the whole trip, and loved drivin on the other side of the road, so I'm set for many a holiday

Cars were al pretty good on Juice too-and a hoot whilst doing "F1" style warmups in the traffic jams in the tunnels :o

haha, the preparation for the cars did end up with 3 of them being fitted with coilovers :P

of the cars we had:
red 318ti sport compact M44B19 on coilovers (me)
red 318is coupe M42B18 (neil)
silver 325i coupe M50B25 on coilovers (my bro)
red 328i coupe M52B28 on colilovers (neil's bro)

All of which were faithful chariots! We even has some epic girlfriend driving stints on the ring and the alpine passes! Me and neil were acting as instructors for a fair bit of it, with entertainingly good results :D

and we were faster downhill than the 6pots

I'm only mildly worried by how much the burd enjoyed drivin the nurburgring..

as for the Passes, the last secion of the furka was true roam spec
