Took some pictures of the final product today. Never used wrinkle paint before but is surprisingly easy to work with.

The eagle eyed of you may notice ive removed the mount for the inlet manifold bracket. I used the grinder to take most of the meat off, then a 40grit flap disk to smooth flush. There were some holes left where the bolts would go so i filled and sanded these with Isopon Metalik. The ribs and BMW logo were wet sanded up to 2000grit then polished with autosol. This was all then masked off (ball ache).

I used 1 can of etch primer (3 coats):

...and 1 can of VHT wrinkle plus (4 coats):

Looks pretty awesome IMO! The trick is to put a heavy (non drip!) layer of wrinkle paint on, wait 5 mins, then do another, wait 5mins etc... then 15mins after the last coat get the hair dryer out, heat the paint up from one area to the next and watch the tight wrinkles spread like cancer :D

Won't be putting it on 'til ive got my ITBs sorted though.

You masked up the raised bit? 8O I always just spray mine then re sand/polish the raised section after.

Looks nice though in a wrinkled kinda way.

Thanks!

Yeah, was a right b1tch to do! I didnt really want to damage any of the paint by sanding the raised bits afterwards so figured I may as well mask it. Must say, was easier masking than it was taking it off! Gotta take it off at the right time, too early and the paint stretches, too late and it's just totally stuck.

The inlet manifold on the car looks crap so no point in putting it on until ive finished putting the ITBs together. So far..

most probably haven't seen the inside of an m20 inlet...nice radius on the runners!

I need another m20b25 inlet manifold, another set of GSXR600 thottles, a load of silicone hoses, some trumpets, and need to make a plenum, probably out of fibreglass for the minute.
