Some pics of the scabby bits and problem areas of my E30

Leading on from my other post where i showed some nice pics of my E30 after her first polish of the year I thought I would make a post showing all the nasty scabby bits on the motor.

I urge others to follow suit.

IMO I have no major problems, all the bits shown below are relativity easy fixes my two biggest areas of concern are the slight rust on the scuttle and a rusty dent on the rear boot panel.

Image Slight rust on drivers side door

Image Nice bit of rot on the front valance D/S

Image These seems near the sills seem to be rusting slighty, had a good poke and they are still very solid

Image Dent on the rear boot panel, that’s starting to show signs of rust.

Image Both of the rear pop outs have started to rub the paint of where the close, not rusty as yet but need to address asap

Image
Image Both sides of the scuttle are showing early signs of rust, should have caught it early enough to avoid having to cut and weld new metal in.

Image Bubbling on mirror base

Image School boy error of mine, buring the paint while using a machine polisher

Image Need to sort the headlights out as they mountings are shagged and give very poor visibility at night time.

Image Headlight switch needs fixing as its hanging out

Image Heater panel needs re fitting, as its sticking out slighty

Image Fuel gauge not working properly

Image Need some OE tweeter pods as these just look a mess

Image LHD heater panel needed so my screen can come out without hitting the indicator stalk.

Image Glove box needs attention as its a right pain to close, think the latch needs adjusting

Image
Image Need two new mirror glasses as the current ones are shagged

Image Drop links need replacing, making a clunking noise at the moment.

Image Need to fix the hangers on my exhaust, tbh not keen on the sound of this powerflow system so may just fit an OE system.

Big list of jobs there, a full respray should all the body work issues and then there just loads of little jobs and fixes to do. Seems like a big list but should be fairly easy and inexpensive to fix especially as i have a mate who works in the paint business and will spray the whole car for me as long as I pay the £300 to run the booth/oven and buy the paint.

Heres a link to some nice pics of my E30...

That's not too bad mate, I would defo attend to that surface rust this summer because by the winter you'll probably need some welding doing!

Have you checked the front footwells and bulk head ?

Nice car btw 8)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Yeah i've pretty much had this car in bits over the years i've owned it, both inner and outer arches are solid as a rock, no rust anywhere to be found on the floor pan or under the boot carpet.

Engine bay is all solid as are the sills and jacking points.

Just needs a little TLC at the moment, but your right if i dont attend to it soon it could turn in to welding working quite quickly

Bulk head is also solid, checked this when i fitted a new dash board

Hopefully so, would like to keep her for another five years or so yet i'm sure decent E30's are gonna start fetching very strong money soon, and seeing as the price of fuel is on the rise, i would'nt be surprised if E30's like the 318IS catch almost catch up with 325 sports value wise as they will become an affordable classic
