As it has been gloriously sunny down here in Surrey, I have been out in the 'cab and taken the opportunity to get some good pics.

I just fancied showing her off...close your eyes if you are not an OEM homo :-)

Still so proud of the old girl, and makes it so much better that I restored her myself without anybody else coming even remotely close to her. The paintwork looked flawless in the evening sun today 8)

Thanks for the kind words people...shame it's raining today, as I would have loved to have gone for a spin today as well.

I have a quick question to anyone who reads this-do you think it would look better if it was lowered a bit?

I don't mean 60mm type of thing...more around genuine mtech (I have some 30mm eibach springs waiting to be installed)

Also, should I stick with the cross spokes, or go with some genuine alpinas? (real ones are 16 inch aren't they?)

Cheers

Steve

The eibach springs will make a noticeable difference.

30-40mm drop is all you need. Much further and you start to compromise things. The car looks lovely, BTW. Kudos!

PS: make sure your dampers are matched to your springs.

Trevski - yes, pics would be great - thanks :-)
Did you change the dampers too? If so, what did you get (and what was your drop)?

AlpineAde - will probably get some boge dampers if they are still available. C3 (ever heard of them?) supplied the springs about a year ago, so I am sure they can supply some shocks to match too.

Thanks again for all the comments. Makes it all worth it (and owning and driving her of course!)

Oh, and if any of you haven't seen what she used to look like, then here goes!!

Rotten rear end removed..

New panel welded in...

And finished...

And reassembled..

I bought the car back in november 2008 for £1200. Pretty sound with just 106k on the clock - all original (even had bottletops!!).

Lets just hope that tonight's Top Gear frolic doesn't destroy their kudos (and value)

Steve, mine is dropped on mtec springs, I believe 15mm, gives you an idea of what to expect, I'm using Bilsteins B4's all round.

Wow! That looks stunning!

I have been toying over the idea of some kind of rear spoiler. That tech 1 looks nice

Is your's zinnober or brilliant (looks zinnober in the pics).

I must get the springs done as the next job - that really does look superb! You must be really proud 8)

Thanks, it's Brilliant Red, probably looks a bit darker as it's in the shade from the trees, in the sun it lightens slightly.

When I bought the car it was couciled with -60/40mm and a few other bits I put in the skip, it took 6 months but I managed to get it back OEM.

The tech 1 does look good but I also like the no spoiler look on a cab, yours looks the biz too.

I was lucky, I picked up another set of mtec spring from Spic a few weeks back (£30), best to have spares floating around.

Keep a look out or put up a wanted post, someone will have a spare set if -15mm is what you're after.

Lovely cabby that.
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Really nice.

I'd stick with the BBS on that and go with just a small drop on the front to sort out the E30 arch gap.

Then I'd put all my effort into minting up the existing stuff rather than additions - so new exterior trims, any interior parts need minting etc etc.

Respect.

Stunning cab mate!! could do with a subtle drop but not too much. Personally I'd like to see a little more than the 15mm but I can appreciate the look you boys are going for. You should be very proud!
