Hello everybody! Just a few pictures of what I've been up to lately, E30 wise anyway. Got hold of a set of 16" Azev A's to replace my 15" BBS, They were in a bit of a state so I decided to do a bit of a DIY refurb and ended up painting all of them. 8)

Turned out better than expected:

I then got a set of SE skirts from david106, they were in black plastic but I really wanted them colour coded, once again I decided to take it into my own hands and paint them myself. I wasn't expecting great results, but they actually turned out really well.

First I primed them with Hycote Red Primer, then sanded with wet n' dry till they were very smooth. I then used Hycote BMW Brilliant Red aerosols, thin layers leaving about 15 minutes between coats, ended up with about 5 layers of paint and dried with one hell of a glossy finish, I was expecting matte red tbh :teehee:

I also purchased a brand new lowering kit from eBay which will give my car a 60/40 drop, opposed to the 40/60 drop I have at the moment (40 front, 60 rear!) I believe this is a hottuning kit, not to sure, I know not many people are very fond of these kits but for £65 I couldn't really say no 8)

Tommorow I will be polishing and waxing the beast, looked around at some different polishes etc, Dan320is reccomended Chemical Guys All-in-One polish, had a look at some reviews, looked good, for the wax I decided on Poorboys Natty's Blue liquid wax which also looks very good!

I hope to get my skirts fitted tommorow also 8)

More pics to follow.

Looking good. Take some photo's during polishing etc for us. Are you polishing by hand or with a machine?

I clay bar the car before polishing as it makes every thing else so much easier to apply. Work the polish until the residue goes clear, then you know it's worked.

Thanks, I will be polishing by hand, I will get some snaps as I go along. I won't be clay bar'ing this time, I'll see how it goes on after just a good wash and dry!

Hopefully it will be a nice day. Cheers for the tip, can't wait to get the paint gleaming again! :thumb:

Indeed, I thought I would do things properly this time :teehee: I have to admit I was pleasantly suprised how the wheels and skirts turned out! I think the key is to take your time rather than a couple of big thick coats of paint, which is what I used to do!

Yeah the skirts have come out brilliant (no pun intended!). Its good to learn how to refurbish, paint etc yourself, saves alot of money in the long run!

i started about 9:30: washed dried off then i used a very mild colour correction polish & then a quick going over with some detailer, just to remove any greasy marks from the colour correction

got to take my wife to the hospital just now.. if it's still light when i get home i'll take a couple of pic's & maybe a wee video :D or i might just use my E30 and take pic's while she's in seeing the Doctor?? winkeye

I'm not sure whether I am just being fussy but there is a bit of an arch gap up front and it kind of looks like theres a heavy weight in the boot. Also the suspension is very bouncy at the moment, you 'boinged' it for yourself lol! I think you can see what I mean here (excuse the bad quality photo):

It needs shocks yeah, but look at the sill line, clearly it goes down towards the front, the rear arch thing is Facelift arch syndrome.. The nose could come down a tad though yes. Stance is right..

I still think all you need are some 2nd hand B8/6's and your current springs.. Much much better setup than the HT nonsense. I will fit whatever though

What are you doing to me! :teehee: I'm not even sure what springs are on there at the moment, for all I know they could just be cut, judging by the way the previous owner wired the stereo I wouldn't put it past him. Now I have a dilema :(

Ian that is the old suspension mate!
