See that, I may just pull the M50 and replace with the M30! I only managed a 15.6 last year at the pod with my M50 touring.

Depends on the diff Kos, if it's an 3.64 or higher shouldn't cook the clutch :D

well they way he gained an early lead on the scooby i'd say it is a short diff, like 3.64 and 1st gear start deffo not a 2nd.

with any luck i'll have the compact into the 13's this year. just need to get it finished and i've got 4 days off work now to make a start on it

whats new with you , still have thoughts about you know what ! :D

No, does not sound familiar, Why?. I ask as some of the guy's run 3:91 and :64 diff's. Making 1st way too short to use and causing traction problems in 2nd when ingaging at higher rev's, There were a few launching in 2nd last year and getting good time's.

My old M50B25 non vanos in the car in my sig did 14.8, simple mods, chip, lightened flywheel etc. A pair of cams would knock off another couple of tenths im sure

If you can only manage 15.6 something must be wrong

My touring with M52 last year and with a knackered cam sensor, therefore running in semi limp mode managed a 15.2. In know an M52 will have more guts than the M50, but a 15.6 is M20 territory with mild mods

Correct. Mother and pushchair would have beat me up there last year. :o:
Think the car is cappable of getting regular high 14's. Just got to get it off the line right.

Tourings are a bit heavier though, my reaction times were excellent but ran 15.6 all day? with all interior fitted and coolerbox!
After a year of the M50 I feel there is more to be had, and the power gain of the conversion does not warrant the money spent versus the M30 Power / £ that much, M30 tuned would still be more power for same costs?
I have got the M50 cast turbo manifold and a T3/T4 turbo, but do like NA.

60ft is a bit slow, but not terrible. (i typically see 2.1) Either you are slipping the clutch too much so it does not light up the rears, or you are giving it too much and lighting up the rears :)

Time gained at the start is worth double at the end of the strip

I'm useless with gearing, but maybe the diff is a bit long legged for acceleration? This will then affect it all the way up the strip. Are you into 4th gear before you get over the finish line?

What wheels & tyres are you running?

I get to 4th gear, try not to spin off the line, and do get a bit of clutch riding, I have 17" E36 motorsport replica's with 205/40/17 tyres?

I will be trying my 340i this year, perhaps I should swap the 3.73 from the sport to the touring as the v8 torque will be better suited to the longer ratio?

your wheel & tyre combo will not be helping at all.

I'd confidently say you would probably lose at least 3-4 10ths by sticking on even some standard 15" BBS on the back. Rubber band tyres are not very good for launches.

Although a completely different car, I gained half a second on my Soarer from losing the 18" wheels with 40 profile tyres and going down to 17's.
