Well, I've had this as my little project since September, where she looked like this:

I put on an is lip, and it shattered after having some new suspension, so have put on a totally different spoiler, and, got so annoyed with my corroded mirrors I restored them, painted them black and then vinyled them!

Tada:

Needless to say I'm h-a-p-p-y!

what were you smoking when you decided to do that to the mirrors lol
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Haha, it's just vinyl! Wasn't too happy with them being black, and didn't think that colour matching 19 year old white would be easy so assed around! I quite like them...

have to say, im not a fan ! dabbled with a tech 2 rear spiler myself, the tech 1 is far better, or the standard heck spoiler, the is front lip looks a lot better than that thing on there, and as for them mirrors.. 8O  :(

get it all sorted !!

if you can't get another is lip you could try a volvo type, better than that one you have.
i'd do the mirrors in alpine white 11.

An IS without an IS lip just ain't cutting it as for the mirrors matching alpine white is quite possibly one of the most easy paint to match regardless off age

well said ! brand spanking new white mirrors would look ok anyway regardless of if it wasnt a 100% match with the rest

I decided I didn't like the Volvo lip - the is lip route is far nicer. I've got an is lip, but they're frightfully common - not seen many duckbills (after fitting the bastid I now know why!)

Not a fan of the rear spoiler myself. It's not a tech 2 spoiler, or even a BMW one - some retro fitted Accord one apparently, and it's ghastly so coming off soon, and I'm going spoiler free!

It's all a matter of taste/opinions though isn't it, "if everybody looked the same"...

In your opinions of course :P

I invite you to take a look at my drivers side door in the case of the patch being an "easy match", it sticks out like a sore thumb. So on that basis I decided to do something a little different (and easily reversible!)

When I had my is lip on that was black as in my opinion it ties in with the car better having a black bottom bit anywho... That was before I shattered one due to the ride height/state of the roads round here... My duckbill, as well as looking different and possibly better in my opinion is shallower, and doesn't scrape the floor....

yes of course, which is why there are is, tech 1, tech 2 sports, m3`s, 325i, 316i, chromies, lux, and whatever other e30s each with their own looks !! ....the is isnt a common car by any strech is it, a few on here...but how many is have you ever passed when driving around or any round your way ?

each to their own,but the is, is not an is without its lip and spoiler and various other bits, the standard heck spoiler is hardly a big spoiler, your car would look mush nice and classic in its original how its ment to be state and a much nicer car, as it looks in nice condition

Someone obviously used totally the wrong paint in the first place!

I knocked my OE IS lip off before and drove over it, picked it back up off the road painted it and refitted the thing with some new clips looks good as new, I take it the one you "shattered" was a fibreglass aftermarket jobby because as you can tell from above my OE one is extremely flexible.

Not having an IS lip on an IS is like fitting a Tech II bumper to an M3 it’s just not right.

Experimenting with lips is all good if you have a basic model that had a boring lip in the first place.

Well there is an IS 2 doors down from my folks which is less than a mile away, and I know of 4 others on the way to work...

I had a Campaign edition Mk1 Golf GTI which I converted from mildly chavved to standard, this is/was a rare(r) car in which they are virtually none in standard form.

I'm not saying I'm right, but being paid to be creative makes me want to play about!

Yup the is spoiler was a fibreglass one.

I'm playing around with my car as I see fit, as stated it's all easily reversible (for now)...

Leave the bloke alone... for Christ sake anyone would think an iS was gold dust... it ain't, look at what they sell for. I've seen great cars on here for sale for ages, for very little money.

Some of the awful stuff I've seen on here and you lot are having a go a some vinyl in a mirror and a different lip!!!! get a life one and all.... and I agree, any spoiler on an E30 looks mank regardless whether they came as standard...

I want to see this car show off the madness of its owner... if that's what he wants

Haha, it's all in hand! Tempted to get another set and get them refurbed, or something different... We'll see ;)

You voiced my thoughts on the IS, and indeed my thoughts/reasonings of what I've done to it! Yep, they are a great car, but until they are worth a fortune I'll continue to have some fun!

Slight update, bought some BBS RM's in 6.5" fitment, made them 8.5" and 9" wide:
Image

So, after the work involved with stripping and rebuilding the RM's I decided the cash would be better, so as quick as I bought the RM's I sold them and fitted the lower profile toyo t1-r's that I'd bought to the BBS, and got my arches rolled a touch to help with clearance!

Image

Then I went to Le Mans and gained/noticed the "death rattle" on the way back home... So, she's currently getting looked at/the tensioner replaced and hopefully not the whole timing gear... Even so, if it needs to be done it will be, as I was mightly impressed with her ability to handle the jaunt to Le Mans and keep a good pace!

yup, 205/50/15's on 9" would have been a bit stoopid! Still, I saw sense!

Haha, thats cool! I just wasn't convinced by the stretched look - would it be detrimental to the handling? Is it unsafe, is it insured with stretched tyres? Plus looking on the toyo website they say 205's are for a maximum of 7 or 7.5" wide, so decided against it!
