well first thing to do was get the wheels changed and stick my smoked rear lights on to see how they went with the grey as my last one was black.. to start with i was planning on painting it diamond schwartz but the grey has grown on me and i do like it as it suits my wheels

Image
passengers side front corner could turn out bigger once i hot it with the grinder...

Image
drivers side at the rear of the battery tray.. I've got the sections cut out of another shell already

Image
drivers side front corner.. looks grubby i hit it with the screw driver couldn't fell nothing soft but will see when it gets the grinder on it...

Image
glad it never spread up the way to where its double skinned..

Image
will need to catch this from inside the arch as well as under the bonnet

Image
passengers front corner never went as far as i thought it would..

Image
drivers front corner as suspected

my next plans are to get the butchered wiring loom out of it ( I'm glad I've kept my old loom which wasn't butchered ) and pedal box out after that ill get the battery tray attacked get the front end stripped down to get better access to the bits needing welded as the far as the rear end goes there's a wee bit on the drivers inner rear arch and I've got new rear outer arches to go on.. ( my brother says it will be an easier job on this than his Mk2 escort!!! ) the rear end looks to be fairly solid compared to the others I've seen and had :D

well i set about taking the front wings off yesterday so its easier access to get the welding done. well passengers wings was rotten in behind the kit which wasn't a major surprise. drivers one was a pure pig to come off but got there in the end but wrecked the wing in the process. front panel had a hole in behind the front bumper again I've kept the wings and front panel off my old one as they were in good nick. just a bummer there all black but at least there in good nick. took the fuse box out and found a wee bit of rot in behind there nothing major so not worried. will take some pics later as never had my camera out with me so never took any.

Hiya JBH,
I'm looking for a pristine 2/2.5 engine to fit into my 316 manual coupe. I think i'm looking at £150-£200 for a complete one with all neccessary parts for the retro-fit??
I'm also looking for expert assistance fitting it.
The car currently has an M10 engine with weber carb on a genuine 59k and is running perfectly - I would like to use this as a trade-in item (have seen some go on eBay for £200, and this is a perfect one).
I would only do the swap if there was an engine out there with similar mileage and/or very good history (The last thing I want is to turn a very reliable concours car into a non-runner for the sake of 50hp). I would be open to paying for the engine, and any cleaning required plus the labour to fit it - I suspect that this would cost in the region of £300-400 plus my complete M10.
I look forward to hearing if you can be of assistance. I'm based in Edinburgh and can travel to meet and discuss possibilities.
Kindest regards,
Alasdair
