nice of ya all to dishearten someone on their project just because YOU disagree with a chosen method

Most of us have all been disheartened by other zoners fella because we all have different tastes, know one is knocking is efforts for trying it`s just peoples opinions they would not of done that way.
if your going to get that upset about it dont post pictures up for people to make an opinion about
at the end of the day fella its your car you do as you wish with it.

Obviously not.Jhonno wrote:Did it have the boot floor paint delete option from the dealer then..?mykez69 wrote:It will do a better job than the bare metal.
Did you see the boot floor photo before? paint flaking and surface rust, that makes the bare metal and isn't pretty.
It don't look tidy i agree but its going to work better than just spraying the boot with normal paint. I want this car to last and just not rot into the ground, so if using undersealant in places most people dont then so be it.
I can't be bothered to be doing the neatest of spray jobs in a boot that can't be seen.

Opinions are good, Yeah itlooks messy, but its sealed, and that all I wanted. I don't know if its just my car but it get very damp in my boot, I just want to have piece of mind that i'm not going to have to end up welding it.
The sealant I used will dry like a hard rubber, which will be waterproof and harder resistant than normal paint. If it does the job im good

So, to change the subject slightly,
I have got a completly rot and rust free boot lid and bonnet, spankingly clean boot carpet, I have interior carpet, new centre console. drivers side wing, waiting on passsengers side wing,
Then it will be spray time, i'm thinking of getting it sprayed Dolphin Grey maybe?
Also replaced boot seal, shadowline strip on drivers side, interior light,

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Thanks, I will have a look at that.
I'm going to course the sanding right up to about 1000 grit I reckon. Just takes such a long time.

if u can get a heat lamp or one of these

or even a fan heater
half hour will dry it out on each patch
if u ever leave anything unpainted, primer it, even if the sandings not finished!

Deffo need to dry that filler out properly.. hair dryer wont work well enough..
Door card removal...
remove cover around opening handle..
remove cap off the top of the big handle and unscrew the screw you see... then there are 2 others underneath that handle.
remove the mirror cover from the top.
now starting at the bottom just pull it away from the door untill its just held on at the top.. then lift up and it will remove..
Nice project BTW
Cheers

depends what you mean by wrecked the only way i would class an E30 as being wrecked it either some major crash damage or major rot/rust
You do know that half decent IS's are worth good money these days? if you had spent a little more time on it you could have had a nice investment on your hands
Each to there own i suppose at least you can drive it like you stole it and not have to worry about doing any damage to it

I will invest in a proper paint job when i done everything else, its just temp.
I got more important things to buy for it, like wheels lol and sort out all the niggly problems.
I dont mind if the car loses value really, as long as i have fun on the way. Its getting used for drifting, so it will end up dead at some point lol

They're not exactly valuable now are they!? Even in amazing condition they're not worth much in the grand scheme of things. They're cheap cars, why not have some fun with 'em!?pac1982 wrote:You do know that half decent IS's are worth good money these days? if you had spent a little more time on it you could have had a nice investment on your hands

Theres fun and theres making a car look a bit shite, i would rather have a few dents and scabby paint than a DIY matt black paint job, when ever i see a matt black car i think to myself hmmm whats that got to hide then must be a real shitter
