Glad that the welding is nearly done, just one more plate while the engines out, where the driver side brake pipe enters the engine bay, common place for a wee bit of rot to take hold. Looking forward for the test drive with the high comp m20 2.5, with a lighten fly wheel and late management and loom, should go as well as it looks.

We changed over the front suspension last night to shorter boge gas inserts and gmax -40 springs.
Also changed the two rear front wishbone bushes and the droplinks.
The car now has a good stance and hopefully handles alot better now as one of the shocks, lolly pop bush and droplink were totalled .

Not much to do now just tack a bracket for the header tank and dme in place and refit the bonnet and hopefully it will be mechanically sound now as well as rust free.

We should have it completed by tonight depending on when i finish work.

Finally its done(barr painting) woohoo

Got it out of the garage today and i'm over the moon with how it go's.
The suspension change seems to of sorted the handling issue.Still doesnt handle like the 4 door which is poly bushed but it handles ok.

For a 2.5 it can fairly shift pulls very well in all gears but 3rd is the best ;tounge; and sounds good to with the dtm scorpion back box.

The lightened flywheel has made a great difference imo as the 4 door wouldnt have a hope on a drag strip with it.

Anyway as usual some pics for your viewing pleasure ;popcorn2;

Engine bay just requires the metal bit that holds the loom to the bulkhead and the black clip the expansion bottle clips into.

Image

Not a bad stance ,didnt want to go to low as it will get used more than the 4 door plus the wife is on the insurance LOL

Some pics of the touring,4 door and Gaz's 325 which is far from standard and has the best brakes i have had the pleasure to press on an E30(until baddaves are finished LOL )

I must say a massive thank you to Gaz(gcs325i) without his help this touring would have been scrapped.

So thank you Garry and i will be there all the way when you start your m50 conversion to pay back some of the free labour i'm due LOL

:o: No bother Jake, it's all been worth it after going and ragging it about this afternoon :D Think I've been equally p1ssed off at this motor at times, as you have over the past month or so, so feels like a bit of an accomplishment getting back to being a solid 6pot from a rusty m40'd shitter on its way to the weigh bridge :thumb:

Cabby now belongs to gra325i.
It was needing a bit of work for it mot and the rust was coming through the arches plus other bit and bobs.

The rust showing against the white really got me down when i looked at it so it was time for it to go as i had lost interest in it.
