Grey/silver leather and red looks good to me. Lucky to find a H26 being broken.

hey Chris
I will be back down in Macc on friday, might have to look them up

had a word with the sheet metal workers next door to my workplace today, they can totally re-build it in stainless or re-skin the back box depending on how good the insides are, maybe i could use the baffles from a brand new 325 back box ?

well after setting about working on the red donor car today I found rust

the passenger side inner arch is shot, it looked totally solid no sign or rust at all then I managed to stick my hand through it,

is there any solid shells left in the country?

this project has sadly come to an end for me and will be broke for spares :(

Big shame that mate, it looked like such a good project too.

it's not completely over yet ...still looking barry, I refuse to own a welded shell !

finding this today really Pi555d me off

think i have located yet another donor, fingers crossed its rock solid .

I have owned many many e30's even took a good freind who really knows his way around them and we never spotted the inner wing there was no tell tale signs at all the paint was unbroken
lesson learnt, will take a magnifiying glass to the next one i view

Good news

finally after weeks of trawling the country almost every evening after work, I have found a solid car not even a rust bubble on the entire car !!

fairly local too, it's a 1.6 auto with 62k on the clock and owned since new by an elderly gentleman
a price was agreed and I assured him it is in good hands and will be lovingly cherished
almost seems a shame to pull it apart .......

I was hoping to find either an Alpine white or brilliant red donor, but i have always been a fan of sterling silver so i am quite happy with it

I have collected a massive pile of parts for this project and gained a huge hole in my wallet it will be great to have something to bolt them to watch this space :D

cheers spook

I collected it yesterday how anyone can drive a 1.6 auto is beyond me  can't wait to get the donk ripped out but for now it's usefull for moving it around :)

took today off work and began stripping, it really is solid I can't believe my luck

I also took out the headlining because i wanted a black one , it gave me the chance to inspect inside the roofskin which is completely solid :) and fit the electric conversion

Image

dash was badly cracked but I have got a perfect replacement :)

I am glad i didn't give up :D

I must have viewed 20-30 cars before finding this one travelling all over the place is not cheap when my daily is a 320 auto 8O ,

the most annoying thing is sellers describing them as 'mint' when they clearly are rot boxes, time and money wasted :(
