So whats all this b0ll0ks about "oh yeah, you'll get a £100 for the shell alone"? We here it all the time. Mate scrapped a golf shell the other day and couldn't get a cent for it. Asked Si last night on the stirling touring, again, nowt. How do people "weigh" shells in and get money for them?bss325i wrote:£21!B7 wrote:What did they give you for the shell barry. Agree this was a hero chariot of the highest order. Saw some serious squirts on the way to the Pod in this and it was a blinder.
Still Out with the old, in with the new.![]()
Still there was f8ck all on it!

Gutted
Can't believe you scraped it with those SE side skirts on it!!
Been looking for a set for months for my iS. Ordered a set from a zoner on the weekend for £40 then see pictures of your touring just before being crushed with them on
just thought I’d let you know my shame in you...only joking. Just read through your thread your a fooooking star mate...cars coming on extremely well and remarkably fast
Nice one can’t wait to see the finished vehicle!!
Cheers

318iS on the road soon (fingers crossed)
It was reasonably solid but starting to go in a few places that would have been expensive to repair properly like the roof. Anyone that knows me will know how anal i am about rust.scotty86d wrote:was it in a bit of a state then(tourer shell)
Even if it was completely rot free i still would have reshelled it as i prefer 2dr E30's.

Scrap price has fallen dramatically over the last few months, its down to £40 per ton in some places, in the summer we were weighing in for £200 per ton
Scrap merchants are going bust all over the place, ive even heard EMR have gone into liquidation

I looked at the prices a while ago as I advised to a mate who knows nothing about cars the best thing he could do was scrap his rover 25 and collect £160. Sound advice I thoughtDanThe wrote:B7 wrote: So whats all this b0ll0ks about "oh yeah, you'll get a £100 for the shell alone"? We here it all the time. If i had a whole day i could finish it off so it can be MOT'd but im just doing the odd half hour here and there so progress has slowed somewhat. On saturday i'll have 5 hours spare so can get most of it finished off then it will be coming back to my lock up next weekend.

Barry so you've finally got around to doing the conversion then, been of here for a while due to no computer, just finished reading the whole thread, welll done mate, wished i had a garage to work in like you do, makes life alot easier.
What was the chances, didnt even think about asking you for the bits before and jsut my luck you scrapped the car. Any how if you need a hand with putting your car back together let me know, not doing nothing at the moment anyhow.
chat to you soon then.....

That shell is one of the most rust free i have seen, near perfect.
Im loving the look of this car and the spec list. Cant wait to see it in person some time. Keep the pics roling in. Well done.

Top work so far btw. & theres me struggling to find the enthusiasm to swap a new lock set in
I'm begining to loose enthusiasm for it now. Its leaving my work on sat and coming to my lock up where no doubt it will sit for a few weeks before i drum up some interest to look at it.

what a cracking little project on your hands, that shell is so straight, the jacking pads on that 2 door shell are well clean, mine are hanging on for dear life ready to drop off
