ok today I went and bought some new bits from derby. consists of 328i gearbox with prop shaft, linkages, 325i inlet manifold, gearbox mount and every single nut and bolt required to bolt all this s**t on lol. thought I had a real bargain at £180 for the lot. plus my missus was kind enough to buy me a genuine e30 m3 grill badge off ebay for ruddy £25. ouch. but happy days, she is the best

iv moved house now but haven't had chance to bring the car with me yet, so all this stuff will have to wait to be fitted

engine out....... gearbox on......... M50 inlet swap..(wich isn't as simple as I thought)....... then engine back in....... BOOM!

regarding the m50 inlet swap, what changes are needed as I transferd the throttle body over then realised these ALOT of left over bits that don't bolt onto the m50 inlet that did do on the m52 underneath. plus the injector rail wont fit now so whats needed exactly (and don't say one that fits lol)

lol wont be keeping these wanky z3 wheels, haven't even got the m3 callipers fitted as 16" doesn't give enough clearance, im hopeing on using the good old trusty bbs rs 17" eventualy.
as for the inlet, what about the pipes and plugs underneath the throttle body, there a lot of stuff wich doesn't have a place on the m50 wich was fitted to the m52 inlet. is there a step by step guide with pics anywhere for fooking idiots like myself?

cheers nikwillm3 and welcome to the zone. money is a problem right now so the sorry old rep is on holdnikwillm3 wrote:Fair play and good luck.
Read through your thread a couple of times, it will need some proper work to have it looking as gorgeous as yours! After reading it through, I couldn't see anywhere where you'd gotten your front lip and front light bits. I believe mine is pre-facelift but I'll have to check on the wiki just to double check. If it was would the rear wings just fit or would the rear lights need to be pushed out a bit?
Epic epic thread, I really hope you do finish it!!! Thanks for pointing me towards it...
I'll need to go to a couple of bodyshops I've used before and show them this so they know what's involved and make sure they can price it accordingly... This would be way out of my league to do it on my own!
Many many thanks

hi blclar, first off, thanks for the compliments,
if i remember right and if im talking about the same panel, the front lip and lights bit ( the strip going from wing to wing under the grill and headlights) is from a pre facelift car and i just chopped the shiz nit out of it so it cant be seen through the bumper, and the evo front chin spoiler i bought from here e30zone off a fellow trader and it didn't come with the kit, that also is fiberglass.
the only way i know about telling if a car pre facelift or not is the rear panel has a dip where the number plate sits, plus the rear lights are slimmer on pre facelift so if you have a facelift and didn't want to change the rear panel like i did, you would have to just cut the rear quarters on the kit a tad shorter and blend them into the existing rear quarters, that is all. no biggie, its just no m3 iv seen was facelift. no need to relocate rear lights for anything.
i hope i finish this too lol. i think up to now it stand me around £3000 for EVERYTHING! as iv done all the work, as you may have read, iv never done any of this before so im reading from the internet and just doing trial and error, iv got a picture in my head of how i want it (basicly looking exactly like an M3 evo lol) so that's my guide and standard, if its out by any way, i change it until i get it right, theres no time pressure here so slowly does it.
i think if you show bodyshops my efforts, they would cringe and laugh and probably over price the job but who knows. if you have the time and space to attempt it, don't be afraid, there was one pic on here where i could of cried at one stage where i had cut the back end off my car and the quarters were flopping about and its just looked ready for the scrap heap, i stepped back and had a fag thinking, WTF am i doing, im out my depth, but turns out it just had to get worse before it could get better, i am proud of my shiny shed lol.
id love to see you do a thread just like mine wich i could watch it build and see your progress. do it do it. my personal advice is, if your going to do a rep, do it properly, don't put anything on that shouldn't be there and make it look chavy or council, use as many genuine m3 parts as you can get your hands on, and yes you will have to pay decent money for those bits. keep me posted friend and good luck.
by the way, il be happy to talk you through anything i can help with if you want, just ask. also what you doing about engine and suspention/brakes and so on?
