Fantastic car. It looks sweet on the BBS.
Have you sold the Borbets yet? If not how much are you after?

Not sold mate as debating on what they are worth.Scruffymurphy wrote:Fantastic car. It looks sweet on the BBS.

Only fit for drift wheels IMO as at least 2 are buckled/flat spot and all 4 tyres are pretty badly worn inside.

Finally fitted my new diff today courtesy of Cecotto, thanks Boyd
Only took it for a short drive to check for noises but all good as expected
Borbets are off for good now and BBS back on.
I am on the look out for some more 16`s but it does drive nice on the 15`s thats for sure.
Next up is to order the eccentric bolt kit so I can get the new rear beam fitted.

Borbets now sold on to MurphyE30 and being replaced with these from Rushy

Ive also finished the rear beam with Dans camber tabs on and have ordered the eccentric bolt kit from BMW which will be in on Wednesday, just got to pick up some rear beam bushes up to fit in it then ill fit to the car.
Mate is coming over one evening in the week to take some measurements for a sump guard too.

Im happy with it mate.monkey wrote:Tony that's a very nice car you have built yourself chap . not bad as you said you didn't like red e30s or touringswot do you think of them now
Nice(imo) wheels do the `Red/Touring` justice.
BBS`s just dont do it for me and as such its just another....Red Touring!

Eko, when polishing your wheels, did it damage the paint/laquer on the flat part of the wheels? I'm polishing my Borbet B's and wish I could use something on a machine, hard work by hand, but afraid to damage the clear coat on the spokes.
Ill keep you in mind Dave but short term atleast ill keep hold of them, just incase there is any problems with the new onesDavieP wrote:Well, if those new wheels look good (and it's a fair bet that they will) I've a home for those BBS if you want to off-load them

Jozi, the polisher/pads I borrowed are huge, well far to big to have any real control over so yes I did scuff the spokes......so just polished them off too

I might just leave them as they are, I don't want the spokes scuffed. Someone on owners did link me to a vid that might work but not sure about polishing them to to a mirror finish.
Bit longwinded but how about cutting out a panel to cover the spokes section out of thin plyboard?Jozi wrote:I might just leave them as they are, I don't want the spokes scuffed. Someone on owners did link me to a vid that might work but not sure about polishing them to to a mirror finish.

I'd thought of that as well, I think it's more the effort of polishing thats putting me offeko wrote: Bit longwinded but how about cutting out a panel to cover the spokes section out of thin plyboard?

looking good Tony

Need to get it sat a bit better now.
Got a pair of E92 tophats still to go on the front legs which would get it down but wont be doing that till the sump has some protection.
Not sure what ill do for the rear yet but ill have to get some springs as its still sat on the compact springs now.

Another small but vital update.
Wheels have turned out to be a pain in the arse.
Only had them on 2 days and aside from a bit of rubbing on the back all was well untill I went out in it last night and noticed a vibration through the steering.
Took the fronts wheels off and one has a fooking great flat spot in it
Wasnt there when I fitted them so ive obviously had a pothole somewhere along the way or something?Certainly didnt notice anything as im always concious of the sump anyway.
Anyway needless to say they are now off the car and wont be going back on
On the plus side ive purchased a Breyton front skirt(thanks to Beemerlad for the head ups) which should arrive this week so ill get that in somewhere for paint as soon as.
Im also going for adjustable front suspension so have ordered one of these kits

Ill order some springs and topmounts when funds allow and will be using the B8`s already fitted.

Hmmm
Is the alloy quite thin then?
just for you to flat spot it so easy and not realise it,
not filling me with confidence buying mine now, i live in pot hole city

M50 Turbo!!!
I shall say no more

Ill get some pics of it tomorrow and post up.
Not a flat spot as such, more the inner lip has bent up.
No surprise really as they have mega stretch on them with a good 3mm or rim overhanging the tyre.
too much for my liking and id already got it in my mind to fit maybe 215`s but then that would mean getting slightly wider spacers too, just a constant stream of money.
