New addition to the family, and the Zone....

Wow...that's nice!!!
Hopefully this one should be looking like that (i.e. tech 2 kit etc), just in neon blue!
So were these only 318i's or did they make 325's in these colours aswell?

In my opinion, thats a fair price for it.
Dont stress about the 82k miles and the wear to the drivers bolster - it depends on how long/short a run the car was driven on - after all, if you only get out of the car once every 200 miles, the bolsters wont wear as fast as if you get out the car every 20 mles (for instance). If the car has been used a lot on short runs, then I dont see the problem between the mileage and bolster wear correlating.
On the styling note, modifying the car will ruin its wider appeal - you'll end up spending thousands on it, only for it to be worth exactly what he paid for it. Whatever your brother does to it, keep ALL the original parts. KEEP THE SEATS for fuk sake! If he does put leathers in it, keep them, as someone will want the originals when he comes to sell it!
Looks a tidy car though fella.
Standard is the new modified.
Fact.

He wants leathers, but i appreciate that sports seats are quite desirable!
That said, when it comes to selling, he can put the original seats back in, and sell the leathers if need be!
Everything is progressive, and i'll be sure to keep him on track with any mods he chooses to make....thankfully he's not after any horrid after-market kits....all he wants is Mtec 2, or he'll leave it as it is!
I know what you mean though...when looking at cars now, i look for originality aswell!

its a very petty note to make, but its not a "designer" cab, its "design". Ive seen a few people call it that.
Sorry, its petty i know.
I'll get my coat, dont worry. lol

acer... they were all 318... no 325 ones were made...
Cheers Max,maxfield wrote:Well worth what he paid
I must admit, it really is a very nice drive...
It's not superly powerful, but it revs really smooth, sticks to the road, and in whole a very nice drive...
Everything seems in order with the car, however a full service/cambelt/fluids etc will be first on the agenda (told my bro to spend now, rather than having to spend when it goes wrong!)
I love the Tech 2 steering wheel...i would've taken it off and put it in mine, but couldn't bare to replace it with the boat steering wheel that's in mine!
The colour is SOOOO much better in real life than in the pics, and the seats are really growing on us!

The interior will be left alone, unless a complete interior in cream/white leather is found that's in very good condtion.

It cost £2060, my bro's going to lower it for now (60mm all round), if we can get hold of a Mtec 2 Kit, then we may put it on, but having seen the car in the flesh, he seems content on keeping it as it is for now atleast!CUTZ wrote:good looking car was gona but it how much did u get it for put the m-tec 2 kit on it
First things he wants done is the mechanicals, service etc, and he's sorting the ICE out.
I had some spare subs lying about (see pics on page 2) which fit perfectly, and he's ordered the same amp as me, and a wiring kit...it's next day delivery, so should be here tomorrow!
[I must say at this point, i'm very impressed with the boot size on the e30 cab...it seems much bigger than the e36, due to the e36's roof coming further back into the boot, and therefore making the boot very shallow...these sub's wouldn't have fitted in a e36 convertible!]
Also got to add in a few tweeters, and he wants to upgrade the speakers, and if possible get 6x9's in it (currently 4/5" speakers in the rear)!

Looks like a very good buy... worth the money I think... I'd leave it just as it is... source a couple of BBS centrecaps and do nothing else...... each to his own...
THe caps probably will come, however the wheels are getting the centre's sprayed black to give it a more aggresive look....the front grill will be de-chromed as soon as replacements are sourced (original grill's chrome is in good condition, so don't want to spray that)
It's not going to be standard by any means,
but all things that are being changed, will be replaced, and all original parts retained...i.e rear lights wil be tinted red, smoked smileys, blacked out front grill..and a few other bits and bobs! All the parts on the car will be kept original, and only the replacements will be sprayed.

Future plans are as follows:-
Full leather interior (see wanted adds)
Lowering Kit - 60mm all round
MTEC 2 Kit (minus the rear spoiler)
Smoked smileys (i'll be doing these no doubt! Rolling Eyes )
Tinted red rear lights (once again i'll be doing these no doubt! Rolling Eyes )
17" Wheels (he wants RH's, but i see a few sets of Borbet A's in 17's popping about...so i'll try and tempt him into a set of those! Very Happy )
Hard-top
ICE
HID Conversions
[Additions may be made to this depending on budget]
Dont do it.
Its a design cab and is rare and will get rarer. With those miles har should keep it clean standard and it will hold or increase in value.
Just my opinion.

Having said that, alot of those things have already been ruled.
The interior is in superb condition apart from the drivers bolster which has had a repair done on it at some point, and unless a whole interior comes up including all door cards, then it won't be replaced. Should that happen though, the original seats will be retained to be put back in!
The vibe i'm getting from my brother though, is that he's not looking to sell!
And to be honest, if he ever does want to sell, i'll buy it off him!

Now that looks like a nice straight cabby he's got there (is he gonna register on the Zone now??)
and well worth the paid price.
1st port of call cosmetically will be the electric aerial and the hunt for 2X center caps, other that that - spot on.
One thing does trouble me though..............
I can sense some sibling rivalry coming up soon
Well done, Neil.

I told him to, if for nothing else, then to learn about these cars...but he's too busy cruising in his new ride!(is he gonna register on the Zone now??)
1st port of call cosmetically will be the electric aerial and the hunt for 2X center caps, other that that - spot on.
Aerial's fixed, all the way down now!
Centre caps will be sourced ASAP!
He wins hands down....but i can always remind him that he'd never have bought a e30 let alone a e30 cabby if it weren't for meI can sense some sibling rivalry coming up soon
He showed no interest in e30's claiming "they're too old and that he wanted a new car"!
I opened his eyes to owning an e30, and also the biggy 'Classic Insurance'
He would've been paying £1K+ on anything over 1litres, and on this he's paying £300!
I must concede however, none of this would've been possible if it wasn't for the ZONE!
I must thank everyone, as i've learnt so much in my short time on the Zone!
I'd have never got my car to this point, or been able to advise my bro so much without all the knowledge the zone has thrown my way!
Oh yeah, i'll be getting a cab for next summer, so the rivalry will really start then

cheers for all the comments guys...
The colour really doesn't show properly in the pics, it really pops in the sun...
if the weather's any good this weakend, then i'll take some pics off both e30's together in a better location (my street really doesn't compliment the cars
)
Hopefully i'll get some better pics of the car once it's been cleaned and polished!

nice cab mate, just be sure to keep a close eye on it unless its garaged, even then you get some that try! i read in the spec he's got a clifford alarm, just make sure its a good one, i know it's a 1.8 but these cars get the wrong kind of attention at the best of times. well done with the buy and keep the cab's coming...
S.K.
S.K.
To be honest, the alarm isn't great, but works...I have a Concept 650 with proximetry (sp) sensors that i may tell him to get installed, as that will help when the hoods down aswell (although is a pain to get setup right)!
Either that, or as someone suggested in a previous post, get a pager alarm installed!
That said the car's not going to be parked very much...
my bro works during the day(so it'll be stored on private grounds, and will be out most nights with his mates!
I know very well that if a thief wants something, he'll take it at any cost, I know as i've had £k's worth of ICE stolen a few years back....however knowing the right people, and braking a few bones of the thieving scums, now means my area is pretty much car-crime free!
However, the baseball bat waits in the corner should the need arise!
