My M50,M30 AIRBOX NOW FITTED!
Moderator: martauto
Well i bought them as second hand because they had been fitted to a project car for a year but not driven on!TW166Y wrote:with the springs....(you got lucky) buying them 2nd hand
i still dont know if i should go for the -35mm cupkit or not, seems ok value for money i suppose
So effectively they were brand new,£60 if i remember right?

Update with a few pics!
Finally got round to fitting the M3 bulkhead cover, bit of trimming needed but its a good fit and covers up all the relays and battery cables!
Cover in front of it is to cover the ECU,not really that important as i think there pretty much waterproof anyway. This was made using the ECU cover from an E34!
Took that horrid Zender rear skirt off too!
Plan is to get a Mtec1 rear skirt but the more i look at it the more i like it without so keeping my options open on that one?
Front skirt has been taken off and gone for repair/repaint after i hit half of a V/hall Vectra? bumper on the dual carriageway creating a right mess
OBs(Andy) from the Zone has taken it away to sort for me so hopefully have that back very soon
Next is a trip upto FritzBitz to get my rear disc set up/diff and exhaust all fitted with RandomDaves help, maybe next weekend for that
Opinions welcome

Bit of an update!
After hitting a piece of someones bumper on the dual carriage way a couple of weeks ago my Mtec1 front skirt ended up looking like this

Took it off last week and gave it to OBs(Andy) from the zone to put right for me.
Got it back today and refitted,it now looks like this

Also picked up the number plate filler panel from the dealers,I think it looks pretty cool, opinions?

From which car the M30 airbox is possible to fit, from e28 or e34??? My friend has put M50B25 in his 318`is, and trying to find normal airbox, that fits, but no success.
Sorry for my english, i`m not from UK

M30 engined E32 or E34 is the one to use. Note that the AFM goes inside the box.RM1 wrote:From which car the M30 airbox is possible to fit, from e28 or e34??? My friend has put M50B25 in his 318`is, and trying to find normal airbox, that fits, but no success.![]()

Well what a day today
Took my car over to Fritzbitz where me,randomdave325 and Benjy made a few changes for the better.
Have to say the end result is fantastic
Home made stainless exhaust removed and replaced with 3pc 325i system, sounds superb now in comparison.
Rear beam/diff were completely removed.
Fitted the rear beam and disc brake set up from 318is,replacing all the bushes for genuine BMW ones!
Fitted rear anti roll bar.
Fitted replacement 3.46 open diff along with Z3//M diff mount.
Dave spent an hour or so under the back of the car cleaning down all brake pipes etc and everything copperslipped!
Really enjoyed the day, especially being under cover on a 2 poster ramp with all the tooling/expertise to do the job right
Didnt get home untill 11pm tonight and the drive home was diabolicle so just took it easy but couple of things were apparent-
Firstly it now sits at 70mph @ 3.5Krpm,85mph @ 4.1K rpm,before it was 70mph @ around 4K rpm,85 was 4.6K rpm,huge driving difference!
Also how quiet is it with the new exhaust
Before it was mentally noisey at more or less any revs, how i never got pulled by plod gets me!
Anyway even the radio sounds different now cause i can here tones i didnt before
Brakes are now spot on due to replacing with rear discs, stops so much better with excellent pedal feel.
Pedal is too hard to press though, this is due to the spacer i made for the Golf servo when starting the conversion, always been a bit high since and was just put on the to do list, but now it has discs the pedal is that much firmer it is more noticable!
Will be attending to that this week hopefully along with buying/fitting new rear discs/pads/shoes
Got some good pics and couple of spot on videos when it was on the rollers,by the way it made 188.4 BHP
Ill update this post tomorrow with the pics and hopefully the videos too
PS Dave and Ben,massive thanks for todays fellas, you both done me proud

'Turning money into noise'
Heres a quick video of my car on the rollers yesterday!
Best run was 188.4 bhp, touch down on standard power but i suspect this is down to the exhaust manifold modification and the crap PiperX filter!
It is going on the rollers again on Sunday,so im going to try and get the M30 airbox modified and fitted in time for then, see what,if any difference it makes!
Also couple of other pics from yesterday inc print out of above.

Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap
