Not reliable. The relay bases are easily removeable from the plastic mounting bracket, and can be refitted in any order.BristolE30 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:50 pmwe could compare relay positions and go over some trouble shooting. Where did you say you based in Bristol again?

Hey dude, I’m near Cribbs - in that mew development next to the airfield. Would be great for another set of eyes to see where I’m at.BristolE30 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:50 pmI’ve also only just seen this post! As Brian says it’ll be something simple in the end, just a case of finding the issue.
I’m happy to come by in my 325i and we could compare relay positions and go over some trouble shooting. Where did you say you based in Bristol again?
Will be checking the relay positioning in a few hours when I get back from work - am on nights at the moment!

Unlikely and if the case we can always just look at the wiring diagrams. I always find it helpful having another similar E30 to compare tooBrianmoooore wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:54 pmNot reliable. You're more than welcome to drop by and say hi, and see if you can offer ideas.BristolE30 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:11 amUnlikely and if the case we can always just look at the wiring diagrams. You might think so, but experience tells me otherwise, especially on cars that have been unsuccessfully diagnosed for a problem.BristolE30 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:11 amUnlikely and if the case we can always just look at the wiring diagrams. Always good to have a working example handy when fault finding, especially if you can 'borrow' parts from the working version.

OK Brian - the relays are fitted into the correct holders, and i've tried a few different relays and still can't get the fuel pump turning on. I think I should be bridging the pins in the pump pump relay holder now to see if it can start like that?Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 10:53 amYou might think so, but experience tells me otherwise, especially on cars that have been unsuccessfully diagnosed for a problem.BristolE30 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:11 amUnlikely and if the case we can always just look at the wiring diagrams.
