ended up buying a finger power belt sander thing and that made a pretty nice job of getting in the space.
after various trials with seam sealant i couldn't achieve a finish with the seam sealer that i was happy with. couldnt get it smooth enough. after talking to a few people with smooth engine bay experience ive decided to use filler. lots of people said not to and itll crack, lots of people said it would be okay. so i thought id try it,
first parts when on tonight.

kept putting way too much on. large large learning curve. never worked with filler before.

and thats how i left it for tonight.
will have a big push to get alot done this weekend before monday as thats when i start my new job and will have to focus on that for a bit.

expansion tank is being deleted, along with the washer reservoir. the pz reservoir will be tucked away somewhere yeah. It should look pretty good!NoTurbo wrote:Cooling, washer reservoir and possibly hiding the P/S reservoir. I have seen a few motors do this and the bay looks really clean. All motor
Small update.
Engine bay is still in the works. Many an evening rubbing bloody filler. My fingertips hate me. Got the cross member back and built that up tonight. Also bought a bunch of stuff,
intercooler
rad
steering bits
pas pipes
rack spacers
fuel pump

rad in place just to gauge a few things

Are you going to keep it this colour?
I'm running the same intercooler but upside down to how you have it and then removed the inner lights and used kit car lights with side dipped and mains in the outers and then made some fake lights for the inside, will upload a picture tomorrow when I am at work board.

yeah i saw a few people doing that. got any pictures? but tbh really i want to keep to current lights. ie, i dont want it to scream that theres an intercooler there. but with the pre facelift bumper i dont have much to work with.appletree wrote:I'm running the same intercooler but upside down to how you have it and then removed the inner lights and used kit car lights with side dipped and mains in the outers and then made some fake lights for the inside, will upload a picture tomorrow when I am at work board.

Party and BBQ in the garage time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a great project with excellent progress. I gave many years to the Veedub scene and was Edition38 Crew for many years so can appreciate the touches although many won't. Keep up the great work. Very impressive to take it all on yourself...
