Very good news there mate.

I would suggest giving that bit of brown to the left of the clutch pedal on the seam sealer a poke though, mine looked just like that and it turned out to be a 50p sized hole.

Excellent work, nice save too.. :)

I love seeing new dealer panels like that lurking in peoples build threads. This is going to be pukka.

Progress has been very slow as work picked up and this got pushed back :(

But all the back end is welded up :) just a bit of cleaning and then it's all getting sealed up.

Will try getting some pics up tomorrow

Great work on saving this one, supprised the footwells are as good as that and the rear arches needed chopping out. What's it like where the bit under the headlight meets the inner arche?

Bugger, could've done with that myself :)
Just got lucky right place at the right time
Does this kit come with just the bits to kit the bumper to the car or does it include the bits to put the bumper together as well?

An overdue update

Car was sitting in the back of the workshop for a few months as work picked up and the body shop was to busy to take it in.

But a call from the body shop saying he can take it in got us motivated again!

So what ever needed tidying up was treated and covered with sealer and stone guard!

the whole underside has been stripped and stone guarded really happy with the result of the finish.

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to get pics of the underside while it was on the ramp, but will add some when its back up there.

Not a lot of pictures but here's how it looks just before it got to the bodyshop last week.

On the truck on it new wheels :D

Should be back by the end of next month, its pretty much getting painted inside out.

Just getting the suspension components ready to refurb and rebuild for when it comes back

Great update, what did you use to stone guard under?

Doing something similar my self at the moment,

Can't wait to see this when back from the spray shop. Not many black tech 1's out there.

Thanks mate

Cant wait to get it back too!

As for the stone guard/chip I can't remember the name to be fair (think it was gravi texture)

There's a few different types I have used in the past, you can mix paint in to them or paint over and you do get a really good finish. We have just done my brothers sterling sport and used the same stuff and has come out very good.

Another update

Things are moving along nicely at the bodyshop.

They have been bugging me for the panels, trims and kit to be dropped of,, so a bit of time was taken out to strip all the bumpers, doors etc

Here's some pics of all the niggly bits stripped getting loaded up

And some progress pics at the bodyshop

Shell has been prepped primed and getting prepped again.

Engine bay is looking good, it didn't really need doing but it would have been rude not to as we have gone this far with it.

Inside should hopefully been in colour this week :)

That's all for now!

A very thorough job!

Although i've got to ask, why when the car has been picked clean of all other parts, the rear seat belt buckles are still in?

Barry I asked my brother the same question after uploading the pics!

I've reminded him to remove them when he pays a visit tomorrow.

It would be worth fitting and adjusting the doors before the psint goes on - they're bloody heavy. When gapping them set the rear or the door slightly high as the fully built up door weighs much more than a bare one.

Fabulous restoration - nice to see these being saved now.

Thanks for the input guys

Andy/dan that is the plan, the body shop guy is waiting on us to come and fit the Pannels up for this very reason.

We don't want to be faffing around once it has fresh paint!
