Since you asked for views good or bad, I would say leave the Warsteiner look. I don't recall ever seeing one car that looked even half right. Plus it's been done to death IMHO.
Since you are building a replica, I would maybe look at painting it in a modern colour which fits. The Aston Martin range has some fantastic metallic silvers and greys which would look great, and not unlike some period BMW colours like Nogaro Silver.

iv had a look at your cabby in estoril blue and it looks great, but my mind is set on alpine white now, half my reason for white is because im doing all the bodywork and prep work and paintwork myself, at home, in a garage lol. so any small imperfections wont be very noticeable and is a very forgiving color to paint and still looks great when finished. plus a close friend of mine drives a e46 alpina in estoril blue and would just get on my tits that they have a bmw same color lol.

ok then fellow followers heres my latest efforts from this weekend...
just been putting the pre facelift rear panel onto my facelift car lol.
Image
Image

you can see just how much difference there is with lineing up the panels but most of these sins will be hidden by the f/g quarters, the inside will be lined with somthing, either f/g matting or sheet ally then carpeted over, not sure yet but next weekend il be busy welding all this lot as im currently waiting on more welding gas. but once its all in place and fixed securely il move onto bondong the quaters on and fitting the skirts......
Image
i do enjoy going about this in such a hard way lol
but the end results will be well worth it.
apparts from the fact its a right hooker. it should look just like the real thing 8O promise lol
