They look cheap, and they don't sit right.. With undersized tyres as well..

Why oh why does everyone justify gash as fuck additions as 'being different'?! It might be different, but it's for a reason.. (This isn't for the OP btw..)

That looks a very tidy car, please dont spray anything matt black, some bumper gel on any unpainted black trim will bring it back to life, might take a few treatments but once its soaked up the gel it will look like new again.

Didnt you fancy a manual box conversion?

Defo needs some -50mm ish springs 8)

They won't be happy with the 6 pot weight. If they are coilovers they won't be fixed to 40mm get some pic's if them up.

Basically you want 6 pot springs on the front

If they are 51mm legs then you just want some 6 pot front 40mm springs and the rest will be fine. 8)

I don't care what others think. Bottle caps are ugly. Dont put them back on. Baisc steels are better than bottle caps. I have a 323i chromie and one of the first jobs was getting rid of the bottle caps. Use what ever wheels you like. If you are not careful things get a bit like the Cal Custom vw scence, where the style police are daft. I do like Air cooled VW stuff. For suspension I put 40mm shorter Pedders springs and shock on mine and it looks better and corners great. Just watch speed bumps. Pedders are an Australian brand, but I am sure a set of 40mm eibachs will be just as good if not better.

Mine will be getting -40mm Jamex springs soon enough. :D

Steelie is on the front because a pallet fell off the back of a lorry infront of me, and went under my car giving me a puncture. Got my friend's car as well.

Right andreia,
Firstly, nice car. It is excellent to see a really nice tidy chromie, you've done well to find one in such good condition!

Regards the suspension, the adjustable spax units you have will obviously directly fit but the spring rates will be for the m10 engines so softer than what you require, so handling will not be as good as fitting the correct springs. You could always contact spax and get different springs. I am guessing they are the rsx units with the krypton gas? If so they should be able to supply you with some springs. Yours will be the same as the 320i ones.

Keep up the good work.
James

Well done on the decision to loose the wheels mate. You have a little gem there mate, deserves more respect than those wheels. I looked for a long time to find one of those with a sunroof, still haven't. Let me know if you decide to call it a day and decide to sell.

i bought a touring for £70 it had a set like that, looked dirty ish and not brilliant, the wheels themself after a clean and tcut with a tooth brush made me look a fool for spending £200 on a refurb then new caps 8O i was impressed, my step dad was the one who did them

the only thing is you will have to put up with any curbing :D

before

not really the best pics, but the wheels looked that they had just been refurbed, think he spent the best part of half an hour on each though.

Wheel acid is your friend here, I used Mer wheel cleaner which is acid based on my Hartges and it did a fantastic job of getting all the grime out. Wonder Wheels is another acid based cleaner, you will need to protect the wheels after using acid cleaners though or the dirt will just get straight back in

I have some tcut in the garage so il try this first, unfortunatly the laquer has started peeling on one of them also they have the odd spot of what i think is surface rust, they do look good in the pictures ( i have a very good camera, and they just been washed) but o a closer look you can see all the defects. The shell is not perfect and will get a full respray in the winter so il t cut them and put them on and will have them done proper when il respray the car. At least im on the wright path after the mad moment i had with them silly wheels :D
