since this has been off the road ive had a silly miss fire at start up .
so i set about finding it . after replacing plugs ,leads ,dizzy cap and rotor i traced the fault down to the stem seals.
now ive done these before with out removing the head but ive got a broken exhaust stud so i thought it easier just to take the head off whilst its off ill lap all the valves in and get the head skimmed .
i brought a new erling head set from gsf for £49 so all top end gaskets will be changed along with the crank seal and sump gasket.
i changed the cam belt and water pump 2000 miles ago so these will be reused

im also getting the injectors clean as a friend said he would clean test and adjust all 6 for the price of 4 so im hoping this will give back any lost horses

right started refurnishing the head first off i had to remove a broken exhaust manifold bolt we use a little trick of welding a nut on the broken stud witch does 2 things gives you something to undo and the heat from welding loosens the bolt
Image

then i took the head to be skimmed there were no faults with the head so it only needed a minimal amount taken off
Image

now was the fun job of replacing the stem seals and lapping in the valves

and here are the stem seals witch were very hard and brittle

and the new ones
