I have a question - your doors have the same odd looking things that look like slam locks, what are they? Never seen them on a car EVER and now I see another - on another cabby!

those locks were factory fitted by bmw. as far as i know, they are extra security like a dead lock....i think all genuine facelift motorsport convertibles had them...OEM!!

Yes, a BMW deadlock system I think. I don't use it as I don't have a key and the central locking system is connected to the alarm fob. The car has the lock on the driver's door and a red light on the rear panel near the boot. It would be good to get rid of them, but too much effort and cost.
