Again thanks for the nice comments on the turd! :D

Although it now has quite a nasty rattle coming from somewhere in the engine bay, will have to look into that!

check the manifold heat shield hasn't disintegrated and have a look if the fan is catching on anything. I've had both causing rattles before. :)

Its a really deep sounding rattle! Sounds like metal on metal!

Definately not the fan!

Tappets i would guess, just need adjusting

should be done every 12,000 miles iirc but with old cars they barely get done.

Or timing chain tensioner

Really doesn't sound like the tappets, its sort of coming from the very front of the rocker cover!

Sounds very much like timing chain.

its probably the tensioner, get it done or its good bye engine

they need doing at either 100k or 150k i think

That makes sense as my car has done nearly 99k.

How can I make sure its the timing chain thats at fault?

not really sure to be honest, i'am guessing remove the rocker cover and front timing chain cover and inspect it, see if there is any play in the tensioner?????????

try the search button? :P

After looking at the prices of BBS', I'm going to leave it as is on the bottletops!

Maybe a 40mm drop in the future when I can afford it!

Still thanks for the nice comments guys! :D

Prefer bottletops!

And I try tyre foam, but the rears are about illegal, and a bit old looking! 8O

BTW the rattle was one of them panels behind the headlight! Think it has an air inlet pipe through it or something! and that was making it rattle a hell of a lot! :o:

Bottletops are easier to clean than the BBS style. My 320 has the 14" BBS and they are a complete nightmare to keep clean. Botteltops have no awkward corners to clean.

Well I think you'll understand if I say this "I am 17 and I did it"

Its a white and a red cable that go to the headunit, a larger black cable that goes to the headunit, a small black cable that attaches to the body as an earth, and a few bolts and a mounting bracket that attach it to the car! :D

The hirschmann kit I brought had a fitting kit and all the necessary cabling all be it in need of lengthening! As my car had never had a stereo in it from new!
