It was certainly rather cold last night, was it possibly just icy?

Bloody hell Peter
Made a right job of that didn't you?
Glad your ok tho
Reshell might be the way to go TBH
If you cast your mind back to the end of January, I was in the same position as you are now
Decent shells are out there, you just have to be prepared to hunt around to find them.It may take a few months but will be worth it in the end.Try to find a poverty spec one to minimise the initial outlay.
I'm pretty sure you could get yourself sorted out with a half decent car using the salvageable parts from the remains of the I.S.
Can't have you running around in some FWD wrongness
BTW
Neil's just got hold of a 316 slushbox for his little bro.
2dr non sunroof jobbie mot'd till may.
He might be persuaded to part with it if you were to ask him nicely.
I'm also reasonably sure he,Aly and Paul, even myself, would happily help with swapping all the bits over if needs be.

Alright Peter
I picked up a chromey A reg at the weekend which is going to become my running project, so the Calypso 318i Schnitzer rep in my sig is surplus to requirements. I think you've seen it a couple of times - it's a bit of a dog but it's reliable. Here's what it looks like when it's cleaned up:

By the end of today it'll be on stilts, I'm swapping the suspension on it over to the new car, so it'll be on standard height 6 pot stuff. The leather/steering wheel/wheels will be coming off too, but if you have your own stuff that shouldn't worry you. I've got spares you can use in the meantime if needs be.
Bodywork is a bit rough, the drivers door got clipped by a bus a week or two ago, not heavily damaged but the car needs to be locked from the boot/pass side for the time being. Passenger wing has nasty paint along the top edge, and was rusted at the bottom, but I've got a replacement in good nick (and calypso) waiting to go on. Drivers wing will need replacing eventually too, it's a bit naff at the bottom. Rear arches are starting to bubble.
The engine is fantastic for an M40, it's only got about 55K on it now (I got it as a replacement for one that I killed). Very quick, and not horrible and tappy.
It's got tax til the end of the month, and MOT til July next year.
I'll be over in fife later this afternoon stripping the suspension off it, and Neil will be round ater 7pm sometime with the chromey so we can do the swap. You're welcome to come over and have a deek. I've PM'd you my number in case you want to get in touch.

Regardless of the cause of the accident, your passenger can make a claim for their injuries..... Your NCD is gone if the council do decide to come looking for you for the cost of repairing the street furniture, so you've got nothing to lose if the passenger does pursue a claim.
Mr. Beemerlad - any vacancies for an exiled Scouser with 20years claimant RTA/ULR experience?!!

Indeed it is. Took me months to find one and I had to pay plenty to get it - a good old German ebay bidding war! Lovely bit of kit though, the best front spoiler for the E30 IMO. The fact that it bolts on behind the front bumper makes it look very factory. It'll probably be up for sale fairly soon, once I get my 320i chromey on the road.

If it is cat B, which anything requirng a reshell or repairs exceeding something like 150% of the vehicle value will be then you've no chance of keeping the salvage as it has to be broken for parts by a licensed salvage agent.
If you have the car at home then pull whatever you can from it before they turn up to collect it. If it is in a salvage yard/ storage facility already then give them a bell and ask them if you can collect possessions from the car and see if you can sneakily have any morsels off the car whilst you are there.
If the car is in storage then your insurers will be getting stung for daily charges, so whilst you are arguing the toss with them and still have the keys & V5 etc, they can't move it on to free storage/ sell on the salvage, so all the time they toss about making sub-standard offers they are costing themselves £10 a day or so.
As far as arguing for an increased value is concerned, just get as many autotrader, pistonheads, ebay classified ads together showing iS models going for top dollar, the cars do need to be similar mileage/ condition though. Yours looked a smart example from the pics.
Or set Neil onto them

cheers matey.
ATM the 'repairers' have the car but told me its going to the scrappies friday morning. I have seen the car and if it wasnt for the 6foot fencing barbed wire and CCTV ide be there now raping it.
I still have the V5 but they have the keys, I have spare though.
