Hero. It's looking really good. The wiring loom looks mildly scary mind. You're company is good to you isn't it? Letting you occupy two, 2 posters!

I finally got Tomson his lip spoiler to him, think he was happy with it :thumb:

Nice one Jon. :D They do look after me because of the overtime i do and the fact that when needed i get seconded to the body shop for fitting duties which i find a bit tedious. To be honest i want to change my career before i f*ck my back and knees but i haven't a clue what i would like to do. :?

Do you already have the kit then? There's one for sale somewhere on here if you haven't.

I personally wouldn't leave it red...that black one looks so menacing in that pic, i'd personally spray it a darker colour. You will tire of a red car (trust me I've had a few :D ).

Look forwards to how it all plans out though

Aceraf, i all ready have the kit thanks to theo325. The kit up for sale at the moment is twice the price of what i payed and doesn't even have the boot spoiler! The guy is dreaming! My original plan was to paint it schwartz/gloss black but i all ready have a black tech 2 sport and the red has grown on me. Brilliant red when fresh is a nice colour and i would say with the split rims will look  .

I was thinking that aswell, but don't normally get involved in valuing rare items.

I suppose with the polished dish on the wheels it will look stunning, just thought it would've been the perfect car to add some serious aggression to.

Should be a stunner anyhow, I look forward to the finished article.

In my own humble opinion i think the standard 16 inch Hartges look better than the split rims, however this is an awesome project of which im really looking forward too.

A full Hartge kit is a rare item, and at the time it took me months and big money just to find the proper rear valence.

Okay, just the one pic this time as i forgot whist pressing on to get it off the ramp by 1pm today. Basicly everything underneah the car is done now, exhaust on, suspension all fitted, clutch bled etc. Friday consisted of welding on the brackets for the relocated ABS hydrolic unit and the brackets for the air filter and air mass metter assembly. Here's a pic of the ABS unit bolted in place on its new mounts after that section of the inner wing had some paint blown in along with the original pipes Dameon made up to relocate it. Also note the BMW camber correction top mounts set to max negative to try and help eliminate understeer which the S50 boat anchor causes!

Image

After all the brake equipment was fitted in place the plenum chamber was refitted along with the air mass meter and air filter assembly so was now ready to start. Before this though a battery earth stud had to be welded into the battery tray area in the boot, once this was done and the weld painted it was time to connect the battery for the first time and start checking various electrical items before attempting to start it.

So with fingers crossed and all that the earth was connected with no signs of smoke or smells of burning wire insulation lol! So the checks began,

Windows worked with ignition off and doors open, turn ignition key to possition 1, OBC turns on. Turn ignition key to position 2, ignition lights come on along with ABS light, all good. Check other funtions, heater fan works on all speeds, heated rear window lights up, electric mirrors work, lights etc, cool. Now to start it up........

Turn key to position 3....... nothing!

By this time it was 5.50 pm and i had to pack up and leave. To say i was gutted was an understatement as this was all a straight forward swap with no wiring mods/fabrication to be done by me. My initial thoughts were something to do with the BMW E36 EWS immobiliser system as everything had been disconected and my initial thoughts were that the transponder key would need coding to the EWS module again.

This morning the first thing things i checked were that i had a permanent 12V to the starter which checked out ok, made sure the engine earths were making good connection which they were and if i was getting 12v to the starter soleniod on when switched to possition 3, which wasn't. There is a 12v feed to the EWS module from the ignition switch which goes live when switched to position 3 and this was working, so after checking all the fuses and with no wiring diagrams for the EWS sytem and gave Ant a call to pick his brain. Luckily for me Ant had the relavent wiring diagram for the EWS so was able to tell me what the each pin on the EWS module plug did and that pin 5 was meant to have a permanent 12v to it so i checked this and low and behold no 12v! So after putting a 12v feed to pin 5 and hearing the relay inside the EWS give a positive sounding 'click' i turned the ignition switch to positon and it fired up! :D :D :D

So now i have to trace the wire to pin five back and see where it lost its feed from.

There is still a long list of stuff to do before its driveable which will be done as and when in the next couple of weeks.

Fill and bleed cooling system
Bleed brakes
Fit rest of dashboad
fit interior
tidy up wiring in the boot
Full 4 wheel alignment
MOT test

Big thanks to Ant @ A-tech for helping me with the EWS probelm! :thumb:

they be Uber rare highback Recaros, an option above the regular sport seats and superior in most respects.

not many sets around, in any condition.

The are genuine Recaro seats that were available on some E30's as an expensive option commonly known on here as "highbacks".

They have been retrimed not very well in leatherette and an unknown pattern grey cloth. I bought them like this but have pretty much sold them now.

Today was the end of an era! The touring that served me well for the brief time i had it which included one Ring trip and a pasting at the Pod this year ended its days at my local EMR metal recyclers round the corner from my work.

Here it is before being cubed, Good bye!

The shifty colleages got a bit handy with their feet, hence the doors. The alpina alloys were two from a genuine set that a zoner called Rodderz sold me. They were both buckled beyond repair when he sold them to me!

Not when i was there. They will remove the wheels and drain what was left in the petrol tank but after that it will have been crushed.

What did they give you for the shell barry. Or did they pull ya pants down?

Agree this was a hero chariot of the highest order. Saw some serious squirts on the way to the Pod in this and it was a blinder.

Still Out with the old, in with the new.
