You're right Oz, it would be a nightmare to make that rail up, It's pretty unique, I have certainly not come across an arrangement like it before, I'm sure some bodgers would tiger seal them on though.

In the absence of mr13, there is a rail which is screwed with self tappers to the sills and front wing, the skirts clip in to it, they are then screwed to the wheel arches, there are also some clamps along the bottom edge of the skirts.

Spook, ordered some new wing bolts for much of the fixing, iirc some number plate screws aswell Simon? and the bespoke rails and plastic clips which came with the side skirts

Barry, thank you Sir!

Trevor, dont think Id ever strip it tbh.
I love the Alpina styling but to go with a full on rep just wouldnt be right, I love the early fat green and blue stripes but it would be so wrong on a facelift.
As it is I can keep the personal council touches without upsetting too many of the real Alpina homo's :)

Thanks to everyone else for the positive comments:cool:
Still loads to do but will keep chipping away at it!

Also Im after a 750i master cylinder to firm up the brakes bit and a possible upgrade to discs and pads later on so if anyone spots one drop me a pm.

I am 90% certain I have a 750 master cylinder at home I bought a while ago. Give me a bell this weekend to remind me to have a look!

Looks good mate :D Do you have bigger than standard calipers/pistons? If not a 750 MC will be like pressing a brick! I tried it and very quickly changed back to standard!

Nice one Henry will do:)

Thanks Dan, no standard brakes atm but thinking of upgrading at a later date, wont bother fitting then in the mean time then, leave the brick pressing to Mr 13!

On the subject of brakes Dan what combo would you recomend that have clearance with the Pina's with out using spacers and spending fortunes? Could a TT disk and caliper from another BMW work?

Well, if its brake performance you want then go for some 4 pots, you wont get much over a TT disc without spacers TBH

Food for thought Dan, will have to look into all the options.
Never liked the idea of spacers but I guess unless your using massive spacers it isnt too much of an issue?

I have 5mm all round, had 10's on the rear before but had arch contact problems with the camber adjusted, you shouldnt have a problem with facelift arches though, there is at least 10mm extra gap each side.
If you need proper spacers give me a shout for 5mm ones

Well, another busy weekend spent on YUC see's the old girl gleaming once again!

Whilst I re-grouted Steves bathroom, he got busy machine polishing the E30, a good 1.5-2 days of work and the transformation of the old paint is amazing.
I thought it would be a quick spruce up and wasnt expecting anything amazing but it really does look the b0ll0x :D Ill let Steve explain what he did.

Very very happy with the result, not too many pics taken as it was overcast and still some odd jobs to do.
Another day or so next weekend spent fitting various bits of trim, number plates and giving the interior, glass and wheels a damn good clean should see it pretty much done for the summer.

Many thanks for all the hard work Stevo, looking spot on Sir!

Annoyingly my camera battery is flat so photos will have to wait until tomorrow, suffice to say it was a weekend well spent machine polishing and grouting in equal measure.

Sadly a combnation of my crap photography skills, horrid weather and a failing camera battey I could only muster a couple of pics.
Here is the (almost) fiished article, this was a 2 day mission, saturday was bad on a couple of levels. I was dodging rain showers but the whole of the N/S, roof and boot had lots of contamininents which even clay didn't shift, cue 3M fast cut plus, this is where the fun started, all seemed to go well at first but the polish was drying out very quickly and spitting off in lumps all over the place so it just didn't finish down the way I wanted, oddly enough the bonnet was perfect and went without a hitch, anyhow once the compunding stage was done the remaining holgrams were cleaned up with some 3M Ultrafina, all this paedo action was topped off with an initial layer of Zaino all in one, 3 layers of Zaino Z2 and a final wipedown with Zaino Z8. Sadly the pics don't do it justice, the weather was so bad, trust me though when I say the paint is super glossy and wet looking.

All that hard work Steve and not one comment lol

Anyway, spent sunday cleaning and conditioning the Highbacks plus the interior in general, looking much nicer in there now!
Some decent pics to come soon.

MOT time tomorrow, just had an advisory for rear number plate light last year, with any luck should go straight through!

Good work, i was thinking of doing the same kind of sicko treatment on my E28, would be cool if Stevo could sent me some links on what gear to get {PM]

A reasonable priced machine polishing tool would be a start.
