Username.

I can't actually remember but they're not horrific prices and they're very good fit/quality. Martin is also a thoroughly decent chap and I wouldn't hesitate using him again. In fact, he's sorting the final bits for my track car now.

With regard to the arches themselves, make sure that whoever supplies the rear quarters has put a return lip on the wheelarch. I bought from Pesch motorsport and because the return is missing the panel is unable to retain its shape and is very flimsy as a result. It's fixable but time is money.

have to say this project reminds me of me fitting my wide arch kit to my eg civic n making the kit flow with the rest of the car as honda mightve designed it, i know how much work is involved, keep going your so close and its a credit to ya honestly well done, even if it had a 1litre diesel engine in it id still drive that white M3 rep with a big smile, well done

but thankyou for taking the time to read my build and im just as excited to see it finished as you are.
i look forward to any of you lot on here to spot the car out and about on the road.

I'm building a track M-poster based on an early LHD 320 also. It's currently off being caged by www.questmotorsport.co.uk and will be running an M52 on megasquirt, with US M3 cams & M50 inlet.

Why are you replacing a sophisticated engine management system with rubbish like that?

Sorry, I should have written standalone. I did originally think of going with MS but having researched it online there seem to be too many issues. I wanted to go with standalone to try and optimise changes, like the cams, but also to try and lose all the defunct wiring. I'm still making enquiries though, so haven't actually settled on any single standalone product.

What defunct wiring? Everything on the Motronic M3.1 system and its successors is there for a reason. That's why the engine is so well behaved, starts perfectly hot and cold and is quite capable of managing power outputs of up to @ 300 bhp whilst delivering perfect driveability and good economy. Alpina managed it quite easily with the B3. DanThe on here has a 260 bhp Alpina M50/52 that goes like a rocket and behaves like something BMW designed. On an M20 there is a sort of reason to use something so crude although even that's debatable. On a 24v engine with coil packs, air mass meter and Vanos there is none.

Don't waste your time and money. All M3.1 needs is a decent remap.

loving it. but you all had to rub it in with the GENUINE M3's :o: gits.... lol and M3jim the m3 bodykit is discontinued now forever.... i had to make mine out of empty washing up liquid botles and sticky back plastic... with my parents concent ofcourse lol and heres one i prepared earlyer... but thanks for the kind words anyways. just having issues with my 5 lug conversion.

as for everyones m3's they look amazing. except for one but i wont name them... lol the white one stood out to me for looking how mine will look (supposed) when im finished.

Do you mean Seimens? My e21 ran an M52 (taken from an auto admittedly) and there is a lot of extra wiring that just looks messy and isn't actually playing any part other than being part of the old loom. We did manage to undo and remove the auto control ECU thing but there was still plenty more that could have done with being junked. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the OE system, as there's not. It was simply a cosmetic thing.

It was more for people who might have seen yours and fancy one of their own.

Out of interest, when you fitted the early rear panel did you have to change the ends of the rear quarters or could you just un stitch the original rear panel? Or are light apertures different?

fair one, when i fitted the rear panel, i did it in quite a crude way as not much lined up. the depth (top to bottom) of the early panel is shallower than that of the deeper late rear panel and quaters, so i just pulled the quaters in to line up and weld a seam. leaving me to cut the excess off as all this is hidden by the m3 quaters.
basicly if it didnt have the bodykit and you could see everything (the metalwork) it would look a bag of sh*t. it has the strength but not the looks.

i will say, please try and get a pair of proper m3 indicator lenses. theyre a different size to both pre and post facelift normal m3s. it's the finishing details that can make or break a project. so many people just bodge any set of lenses in and they look terrible
+1,

i have a pair of used m3 indicators here if they are of any use to you :)
are they still for sale by any chance mate?
