OLD THREAD ALERT!!
I thought i'd revive this thread as the sport is off the road till next summer and between now and then i have quite a few jobs and upgrades that going to be done. I've been slowly accumulating various parts but still have alot to get but as always funding it is the hardest part.
A breif list of some of the things to be done,
Retro fit factory A/C
Retro fit factory heated washer jets, door mirrors and lock barrel
Refurb my original black sport leather and retro fit factory heated seat kit
Sort out the blemishes in the paint it has picked up since being painted two years ago
Fit genuine Alpina front and rear spoilers
Strip and powder coat front and rear suspension including new bushes
Detail underside of car
Redo the engine bay i did last year
There are lots of other little jobs that need doing to but i cant think of them off the tp of my head.

Trying to match my spec
Looking forward to seing this progress, lots of pictures please mate. If you have any queries with re-wiring the drier for the R134a conversion then give me a bell (mine came with no instructions).

Its always been my intention to spec it up with every option available. There have been other distractions along the way that have taken my time and money but its about time i finaly got the sport where i want it to be in terms of spec and condition.bmwe30mtech wrote:Trying to match my spec![]()

I've had the heated seat kit for two years and the heated lock/mirrors/washer jets for 9 months.
Yesterday i bought a brand new condenser for the A/C and i'm breaking a cab at the mo which has the full A/C set up including climate control.

Thats what i intended to do two years ago but i ended up selling my C2 2.7 engine to Trevor. I also had a brand new rear badge and the other pair i sold you and genuine front spoiler stipes.e30topless wrote:it will be the option meister !

I not sure if ill go that far as it has a peach of a B25 and i dont want to mess with it really.
If it went bang there would be no hessitation but with only 57k and the meticulous maintainence its gets i cant see that happening any time soon!

silver pina stripes on diamond shwartz would look the bees knees barry
This is my theory but i think they look the b0locks so i may just do the front spoiler.Blitz wrote:I think stripes should only be on real Alpina's.

I say option it up and forget the alpina look Barry.
The cars too good to f*ck about with and make it look like it's something it's not. Return it to BBS's, Spec it to the max and show it.
It'll never be a C2 all the time i've a hole in my a*se.
It's all in the, Keepin it reeeeel bro...........................

Have to agree with the above Barry! (The Alpina wheels are fine thou!
And thats why you have a C2 2.7 donk?B7 wrote:It's all in the, Keepin it reeeeel bro...........................
Should have painted yours Alpina blue then!Simon13 wrote:ditto, and it will look like my 2door but not!
Its getting the front and rear spoiler and there is no two ways about that! I've wanted them since i first bought the car way before i was on the zone!
Besides, screw all that originality shit! The cars got modded suspension and a BTB2. The Alpina parts were available new so essentially there are just other options i can spec my turd up with.
What my car will essentially have is the "Alpina 3" styling package of alloys, front and rear spoilers, steering wheel and gear knob.
Seeing as my car was sold new by L&C Croydon this would have been very feasible as they were one of the offical UK dealers for Alpina parts and cars back in the day.
Its not going to get stripes or C2 badges as, as you homo's say, it will never be a C2 as long as trevor has a hole in his arse.
Not alot!Dantistas wrote:how much you paid for that car ?)
I have spent alot on it though!

I havnt read through the whole thread mate, so i apologize for asking a question which i am sure has been answered.
Who did the 2.7 conversion for you?

No one did any conversion for me. I had a genuine C2 2.7 engine which i was going to rebuild myself and fit but i ended up selling it to Trevor (B7).dimebag_from_hell wrote:I havnt read through the whole thread mate, so i apologize for asking a question which i am sure has been answered.

I am reluctant to pull the 2.5 out of mine as it along with the rest of the car has only done 57000 miles and it has a dyno proven 185bhp and 190lbft on a totaly standard engine with just a BTB2 six brach and a scorpion/sebring system.

Just a little update, i've been slowly collecting parts as and when for the work that i'll be doing this winter. One thing i need to make a desicion on is how, or should i say where i'm going to undertake the work as due to only working for my current employer for a short while, i can hardly ask to pull my car to peices, unlike when i was at Renault!
But i digress....
Now some of you may know that i'm a bit of an OEM homo. After a lot of searching on ebay and a lot of patience i have manage to source a period, OEM stereo system, all of which was available when new for your E30 when ticking the options boxes.
This is a Blaupunkt Memphis SQR 88 which was one of the higher end units available at the time. The good thing about this unit is that is has a CD input which happens to be a 3.5mm jack lead socket so i can use an ipod and not have to listen to tapes from '89!

Findind an SQR 88 is hard enough but fining it with these other two items is dam near impossible! Here we have the BEQ-S2 remote equaliser and BQA 80 4 chanel amp.
The BEQ-S2 is on a flexible stalk which is mounted somewhere like the centre consol and is very 80's but also very pointless! I guess it save chopping up a centre consol or dash in an E30 though.

Another rare item are these rear shelf speakers which make up part of the "premium sound system" available as an option when new and were used in conjuction with the tweeters and some premium speakers in the front. All made by Nokia.
The premium sound system was not a very common option in the UK but were normally found on european M3's and alot of US models which is where mine came from.

At this stage i'm undecided as to weather i'm going to fit most of this as to be frank, is 20 year old audio equipment and the game has moved on a little since then! I have thought about just using the rear speakers but replacing the mid and tweeter with new components whichis basicly what i've done in the front using BMW tweeter pods but replacing the componets with an Alpine component set. I also have a brand new Nakamichi CD500 that could be used instead of the SQR 88 and would undoubtedly give a far better sound!
It all depends on how OEM i want to go!

That head unit will look very period like, very late 80's early 90's
Ohh i can just imagine you going to your music collection and retreiving those Simply Red and Erasure tapes from there slumber!!!!!
If its period OEM you want, then frankly it dont get much better.......

Barry you hero
premium speakers are what i have, nothing better for the rear shelf IMO
as for a good early 90's head unit, the pioneer 5000 'pull out' is the way to go !

Baz that's a nice find there mate. One of the final jobs I need to do for the pina interier is get rid of my horrid speaker covers and fit OME covers.

If that was for me buddy I would need some help with what's hot and what's not. Alec fitted a Blaupunkt Milano head and amp in the car so I know it's good quality but I want a very sharp sound as I am not a lover of bassy music.Kos wrote:use new speakers in the OE pods mate

I found the sound from the speakers in my 83 323i to be surprisingly good - with a recent Pionner unit hooked up, the sound is actually better than the Harmon Kardon system in my M3!
