I'm not going to lie... despite the amount of ventilation holes and the buggered rear topmount, the car drove brilliantly on the way home. Lovely and quiet... i would consider buying one with less rust.

A nice E36 is a wonderfull car.
PM on its way.

holyc*ap my tech1 has less rust than that !!!
Have you driven an e36 alex? I was really impressed tbh for a £400 car.
Spot the tyre though the arch

Pretty much ready to pull out now!

That is most definately THE most rustiest E36 i have ever seen!
Barry its bad, very bad!bss325i wrote:That is most definately THE most rustiest E36 i have ever seen!
Only non rusty part seems to be the sunroof panel and who knows what lurks beneath that?
Think we`ve definatly done the world a favour in `recycling` it though.
Paul I found a couple of bits you want and put them on the drivers seat(incase im not here)...leccy window switch and front fogs etc.
Arranged for shell to go on Monday PM too
Chris picked the manifolds up earlier too and had a nice pile of 316 stainless straights/bends in his boot....

Not sure youll want it mate, very scabby on each endbss325i wrote:What bits are they? Im only after the front anti roll bar if its not rusty.eko wrote:Paul I found a couple of bits you want and put them on the drivers seat(incase im not here)

When I was under it today I was shocked.
Front wishbones are actually pure rust and the TCA bushes are dissintegrated.
Floor to sill(at least on O/S) is severly bubbling too and I reckon a little tap with a little tapping stick would see the lot collapse
Beggars belief how this thing has kept going through MOT`s as there is no way its rusted so badly in the last year or so!

It's only just shocked you!?eko wrote:When I was under it today I was shocked.
Yeah sorry barry but the ARB is pretty crusty, it would be a knightmare to get off - if it would survive it! I dread to think what would happen if somebody did a beemerlad into a lampost
ordered them clamps too btw and mum wasnt impressed to see bits of interior in the hallway, living room and dining room
I missed a rolling road day that was on today that had a 400bhp m5 there. BUT i'm going to another one on the 8th of may

More updates!!
Ive been poking around the suspension and i think its all koni dampers. The rears still have the koni sticker on them.
Even the brake discs haven't escaped...

Only just about solid enough for a axle stand...

This is behind the plate on the passangerside suspenion strut

Bye bye rustiest e36 ever

Exhaust is no longer in my posession but i'm not going to say whats going on with them until i get them back
Big thanks to Eko again. I honestly don't know what i would do withought him. The man is a legend - the zone needs more genuine people like him!

Going to crack on getting the compact together over the next few days so might get started on ripping the old lump out before the weekend which will give a good headstart.
Ill be intouch

Not far off. Odd rattling every now and again, a very tappety tappet, taking forever to start up then engulfing the local postcode in blue smoke and running lumpy as feck and epic (i mean EPIC) timing chain rattle. Sounded good when giving it shite

ICV pipe was left off the TB-MAF pipe, wont have done it any favoursCook318IS wrote:Not far off. Really?
did it have a split on the end wher it connects to the tb/maf pipe?

That's only recent then because that was on about 2-3 weeks ago when I noticed the split when I was giving a half arsed attempt at cleaning the engine bay!

Small but major update!
M50 sump/new thermo and Allly housing/waterpump/M20 flywheel and clutch all fitted
M52 gearbox bolted back onto engine so all ready to drop in the engine bay in the morning.
Where do I put the pipe coming out of the oil seperator which DID go to the M52 dipstick tube originally?

Not bad progress tonight then

You've got a PM btw. I'll try to remember to bring the steering rack with me. I will probably ask chris to do me a favour and weld that seat bracket too

No reason wht we cant have it in within an hour of starting to be honest.
Also did you find out what that breather was/is that went to the fuse box on the 36?

No i didnt actually. I tried looking but didnt find anything. I dont think its the exhaust acuator thing, i might have another search now actually.

had a look at fitting the m20 brown temperature sender but can't see an existing bit of loom that it plugs into onto the m52. What is it we have to do?
