Birdseye?! I dont buy branded food
I'll get the canoe on the lake for the Captain though so he doesnt get Land sick
@ AJ - No E30 needed to show up at mine mate, not for this. Its not a 'proper' meet, just luring in the scrap so I can steal things and let my dags pish on their alloys.
@jonny - fook knows how many will turn up, but under 5 is the most likely outcome

Thanks fella!
Unfortunately, at the moment, she looks a sorry state
Need to crack on with it and I will be soon. Thinking of building up a 2.7 engine to pop in her too!
Once she has the holes welded and a respray, and a new engine
She'll be a new car... Literally
Yours looks tidy in the picture. Whats your plans with it?

mmm, 2.7 with a spaz box, great combo!
YOu might as well do a manual conversion Jim, it's east, and you have all the bits to hand.

Weathers been crap recently, and the unit has been a mess which has put meoff stripping the interior out but today I thought I'll just crack on and worry about it all later.
Weathers been crap but I made some progress
First thing was to get the seats & carpet out so I could see what the damage was.
I knew it had previous patch work from when I last took the carpet and noticed it but never really thought much of it...

And small little blemish where someone has landed on something?

Anyway, I couldnt see the hole I found on the passenger side arch but I could feel it if I poked my finger up... So then attempted to move the loom around, then though, fook it, get the dash out...

Which I could now see the extent after moving/pulling away the bulkhead sound proofing

BUT... Its not all that bad

Needs cutting out and patching back in so shouldnt be too hard... Would be stupid to just give up because of this hole now, considering its there and accessible
I'm hoping someone who is a bit more clued up on welding can tell me if that loom needs to come out still to weld this area or could it be welded with it in place?
And a quick nosey at the other side

Which made me
Think i'm gonna pull the heater matrix while i'm here and just check it out to be safe but everything else looks fine behind there
The patch welds to the footwells I might get someone to look at and just double check them to make sure someone hasnt just patched on top of rust as I have no clue about the extent of the previous rust.
In all, its not as bad as I was thinking it would be and it looks pretty fixable...
Just need to inspect behind the rear door cars now too.

Plenty of work there still mate, doubt you will have this on the road again this year, that top bulk head rot is more serious than you think, it looks a bit awkward and looks like it creeps on to the next panel....
I would be more concerned about the bit above it where the bonnet catch cable goes through and treating that that area is a real b*stard to get to with any kind of tool!
Before you try and repair any of it, get yourself round them rear arches, the worst bit is where the inner arch meets the inner sill, outer sill and outer arch behind the rear beam bushes.... Also where the rear bumper mounts are at the back of the arch can be hiding a world of pain
Don't give up!!!

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Where the bonnet catch goes through, I hit it with a screwdriver to see if it was solid and it was, looks a little worse in the picture than it actually is but I think its treatable...
Nextstage is the rear part just to check it over, hopefully I find what ever might be lurking, but once its all been found its being loaded on to the trailer and off to be welded
I'm wanting it back on the road for this year so hopefully I can get the welding sorted, then the respray will have to wait
But all depends on what else I find

You have some man-hours to put in mate getting it respectably roadworthy from how it is now. It can be done though mate, at least you work from home....Jim320i wrote:Where the bonnet catch goes through, I hit it with a screwdriver to see if it was solid and it was, looks a little worse in the picture than it actually is but I think its treatable...

Jim get the pics up!
They are all fooked underneath every one I have seen of late has been scrap.
I found what I thought was a good one and even though the majority of it is treatable I still got this in the drivers footwell
