Talking about practical, looks like my e36 convert that was with me at guildford last month will have to go. With the family it's just no use to usoguz327 wrote:F#ck practical, as long as it looks goodB7 wrote:Thats what I like, Practical to the end.oguz327 wrote: So far so good, there are certain ones in my area i wont attempt but other than that i just take it real steady over them.![]()

Bit of an update and maybe stir some motivation too
Been having thoughts of selling or braking YUC to get someting else but just dont think I can do it!
The e30 was sorn New Years Eve for the next 3 months maybe more as I wont really been driving it plus now renting a garage finally to keep it out of the elements for the winter.
Quite a list of things to get sorted is building up again
Need either a replacement 8j or get the buckled one I have on the car sorted. Already taken it to a local wheel refurbish place and they wouldnt touch it
Ive heard 8js are NLA so need a good used one or mine straightened, anyone?
The car was vandalised a few years back and keyed pretty badly, driver side rear quater being the worst, need that painted or the whole car, money being the only problem with getting the whole car painted right now
Few minor rust issues to sort out, its an e30!
Mechanically sweet atm so thats one good thing. Did 600 odd miles over xmas and it was as good gold. 435 miles out of a tank of super before the light was anywhere near coming on

Oz, once we all get to summer and mines back out to play, Barrys is out and a few more, the bug will bite again. You need to throw a bit of money at it dude, the bring back the condition. Then you'll be firing on all cylinders again mate

Thats what I thought Trevor, hoping a certain person will come through on the paint work though tbh its always sounded to good to be true so the jury is out on that one.
The 8j problem is really buggin me, really spoils the drive 60-70 mph +
I would just go with a different set of rims but then that will look silly with all the other alpina bits

OZ, you cant break up the ODE/YUC mobile, just not right dude
re the paint, I can get Ryan @ RS autos to paint it but you know that already mush !
re the 8J, Maidstone motorliners will get it true again, no issue at all, no charge if they cant too !I tweaked my CBR600 front wheel in a pothole and it was a banana, not no more and waaaay cheaper than a new rim !

Hey Oz,
How's this for motivation? I remember the look of grinning excitement on your face when the 2.7 fired up first time when it was built back when A-Tech was in Goudhurst and that engine was in ODE at the time. Would you have believed back then that not only would you reshell it and put squirt on it etc etc and then be ground down? Ground down by what? It's only got the issues of all these other turds but yours flies and does look the business and should be kept so!

Well just got off the phone from The Wheel Wizard in Byfleet who I took the 8j to a few days ago.
When they span up the wheel on there machine not only did it show a buckle but also a flat spot in the rim which I had never noticed before, a bad repair from when Bharrat (who I bought the rims from) had them refurbished by Lepsons.
Anyway, when I took the rim in they were not sure if it could be repaired and needed to get the tyre off and investigate so I left it with them.
Just spoke to them and it seems it can be saved, would have been and is a nightmare to find a good used 8j so well pleased.
Just gotta watch out for those pot holes now
Thats one thing off the list, next on th to do list...
2x new rear tyres
a few rusty bits to sort out
front spoiler re painted and repaired
rear quarter re painted
front disks and pads
repair to front bumper mounts
service
Will by no means be a minter but certainly alot more presentable!
