Oil and filter change completed earlier on today, the oil coming out still looks clean which is encouraging.

Significant update, Mission control has expanded...

Double garaged rightness, not actually done anything except drive the car in and close the door, all free time is being spent unpacking boxes and tidying!

A delivery earlier today ment i could test the heating elements in the recaros,
Good advice;

Mess,

More mess,

Poooower!

Bodgery!

And the mission to find the base loom...

Leaving a fairly productive mess,

The seats and loom are destined for the M3 but better to know they work, just need tosomething a bit better with the seat/switch plug 'interface'.

Good advice;
Loom plugged into accessory socket and earth attached,e301988325i wrote:Stock E30 BMW loom has 4 wires going to the seats.
brown is earth both passenger and drivers side, to one side of the connector, call it number 1)
On low setting,
Between 1 and 2 - 0v,
Between 1 and 3 - 0v,
Between 1 and 4 -12v,
On high setting,
Between 1 and 2 - 12v,
Between 1 and 3 -12v,
Between 1 and 4 - 0v,
edit for reference - on high setting pin 4 becomes earth.
This is how to do it,
Pin 1 earth - clearly to common earth,
Pins 2 and 3 high setting +12v - connect together and join to orange,
Pin 4 low setting +12v - connect to yellow,
The high heat circuit has a resistance of 3ohms and the low heat circuit a resistance of 5ohms per seat set.

Mess,

More mess,

Poooower!

Bodgery!

Thanks chaps, rump indeed!
Its pretty cold Chris, was going to insulate with marine ply over battons & polly-board sections and some polly sheets inbetween the roof beams against the felt. hoping that wil make a dent in it -unfortunatly the garage door has no insulation whatsoever.
That being said, its an epic improvement

Was bored today so decided to give the offside rear wheel well a birthday,

Lots of scrubbing with TFR revealed nothing too serious though the arches themselves will need grinding and painting pronto,

so zinc primer+stonechip+red for the front of the well and black hammerite/waxoil for everything else,

If i'd done this when i bought the car i expect things would have been far far less grotty but all things considered it was/is fairly good,
Good afternoons work anyway

You've just jinxed me for the other side coont!Simon13 wrote:no holes!
Nath at BBB was kind enough to do a very very tidy patch up of the galvanised section to pass last year's mot, its lasted very well but i am under no illusions that if the turd is in it for the long haul proper arch work will be required on both sides.
The decision will come when i can be arsed to have a proper look at the back of the sunroof cassette, if its grotty in there shes off to China! Fingers crossed though Si
As for the breather tube cover, it was a bit grotty but a quick going over with a wire brush wheel on the worst bits and some direct to rust hammerite cured that, albeit tempoarilly, with a liberal coating in waxoil to boot!

Some surface crap found here

Tempoary waxoil and some cleaning...

Other wax applied, greased the wiper linkage as best i could but the arms don't like coming back to park unless encouraged by an extra tap of the controls...
Apologies for the shit pictures and the council engine bay...

New wheels on;

Oh it was that type of rimming you were talking about, sorry I misunderstood.
Negaro niceness.
I spy a snowfoam lance. Get those walls painted white, it'll be a much brighter place to work in.

Well some long overdue service items completed,
Thorough flush and bleed of clutch hydraulics, put a litre of fluid through it to get rid of the old fluid care of a gunson bleed kit and 17psi behind it,
Removed and cleaned the bottle, cap and strainer also replaced the reservoir to master cylinder flexi pipe which was the only old component in the system, everything else has been fitted in the last 5 years.
Cus-terd will be in starting it up tomorrow and going for a gear, though the pedal feels lighter and non spongy as is.
Also put the throttle cable on a 3-in1 drip, oiled the moving parts of the throttle body which helped a bit as well.

Minor update as some of you are aware, the 2.8 is going into storage and meanwhile care of those nice chaps at BBB the moordoor is sporting this:

...oh wait thats not very clean, right...

Thats a bit better!
Happy to say that it goes like a 'scalded cat' and sounds like an instant ASBO at any speed...
