What mileage has it done? You considered sending the injectors for a wash and blowdry? It made a huge difference to mine!
I find it odd it had less power with a new lambda, I was considering buying a new one but might not bother now....
Love the 316 badge......good read mate!

I haven't considered sending the injectors off for a clean actually, the engines done about 145k. There were some guys there who honestly thought it was a 316i until he heard it screaming on the dyno :chuckle:

I do love mine, but ive still got alot to learn!

I've just remembered that ive actually got an ebay m50 chip that i bought agggges ago but never fitted it! The seller gave me this link but when the chip turned up it had an ebay logo on it and everything (iirc - it was a while ago!)

Just tried one of the chips I've got - it's god awful! Really laggy , it sounds really tappy and there's feck all power. After I've got a bite to eat the speedtouch chip is going back in!

Took the car out for a few photos with the showplates i got

My m50 is shitting itself badly. I fired it up today, it struggled to fire up, engulfed the area in some lovely blue smoke, rattled like f!ck and ran VERY lumpy.

Good job i picked this up today then isn't it!

Immaculate leather interior :D

M52b28 POWWWAAH!

The car has done 171k and the engine was changed by bmw under warrenty at 94,500 miles - confirmed by bmw. Its really quiet, pulls well but its in need of a service.

Im probably going to use the m52 gearbox. What gearlinkages do i need, e36 m50 325i rings a bell ? And how bad would a 3.64 diff be as a stop gap until i pick up a better suited one?

I've got a mate interested in the leather interior, exhaust system is wanted by a zoner, the rad is wanted by another zoner and my mate wants the handbrake gaiter. The wheels arent too bad with loads of tread - infact i think the rears are almost new.

why not use the rad in your E30, unless you are already using one the same size. They drop straight in and are waaay deeper than an iS rad.

Should be a nice straight forward swap, you've already got the M50 inlet manifold for some nice top end gains. Just the wiring loom to fettle.

What did you have to give for the E36? PM me if you'd rather not say on here

My rad is already a 328i one :D. Yeah just need to sort the exhaust out again for the two lambdas, wire the ews and engine loom in and i want to use the m52 gearbox.

nice one, reckon you'll end up with a free M52

Exhaust is worth £50 for the cats alone at the frag yard.

As I never got to properly drive my M50 I'd be interested to hear about how you feel the M52 compares once it's done. I was very impressed with mine whilst it was briefly living, should be faster in the pov spec chromie shell too

I hope so!

You'll probably know though. M52 gearbox = 328i prop? e36 m50 325i linkages and lever holder jobber? And obviously a 3.25 diff when i can find a decent price one, i presume the e36 one wont fit?

Gearbox/prop/linkages yes

The E36 diff wont fit but rebuilt into an E30 case would be perfect for a road car

Cheers dan :D I'll probably brave using the 3.64 diff until I find a suitable one. Don't fancy raiding a slipper and I could do with the conversion being done over a weekend. Or ideally before the third of April
for another rolling road day :chuckle:

oh and the best bit is that the insurance won't go up either!

M52 FTW!

Much better than the M50, the front end feels lighter with it too which is a good thing. You won't regret the conversion..... :D
