I´ll be giving any person the opportunity to buy a second engine package that would get built along side this one for 4k.
All the same specs and parts.

I can even do a monthly payment deal :)

This has officially started.
If anybody has got 4k to burn, well you might just want to piggyback on this and get yourself 500hp

I´ll be starting parts collection slowly and do work accordingly.

Hi mate, you mentioned in a previous post thet you were going to start making manifolds for M50/Holset turbo conversions. Have you got any pics of your handywork? Or manifolds that you've made for this application?

That hasn´t started yet.
But that is the plan. When things are ready I will be selling them.
it will not be thin wall stainless if that´s what people are looking for, but thick durable mild steel

Less likely to crack and easier to weld? So they'll be tubular wih equall length runners?

not equal length runners. but close to equal flow.

It will be made from thick mild steel to keep cost down and durability/longevity up

Gunni, I'll have a M50 Turbo manifold, so make 2 when you are about it!
Been wanting to Turbo my M50 touring, I have a T3/T4 Xs power turbo waiting for about 2 years now.

I can only make manifolds for these HX40´s, so your T3/T4 would be a mystery of fitment.
But the manifold will be T3 flanged. So your turbo should fit.
Manifold prices will be 600pounds.

So if anybody is FIRMLY interested based on that price then pm me(my friend will not be making these for any less)
What sort of wastegate arrangement have you planned?
I´ll be making these work with a 60mm wastegate that I could supply as well.
I´m allowing more manifolds to be made to support my mate, as I´m only needing his services
to make my customer ones.

These are pics of the m20 manifold my friends made.
With this manifold my friend is spooling a Borg Warner S257 similar in size to a HX35 fully by 4000rpm in all gears and his 1/4mile is 12.04@116mph@1.2bar boost. And he can see positive pressure at any rpm above 2k. Also 1bar boost at 3k rpm in heavier gears.

It´s now official,

I´ll be building two of these packages for E30´s.
Both shipped out of country.

The cars will be 11sec 1/4mile cars going over 120mph on street tires.
I´ll be posting pics as soon as something pic worthy will happen.

Well finally I´m getting somewhere.

I´ve got the M50 engine, and will be rebuilding it over christmas,
if you guys could reccomend a place to get a gasket set (head and bottom) that includes as many gaskets as possible that would be great.

Here it is sitting in the engine bay, which is where I´m storing it until rebuilding.
Image

Image

The engine loom is now in my house where I´ll be modding it and removing some things that don´t need to be there.
Still no date on startup and mapping, but I´ll be posting pics and information as they develop.

I have already done a preliminary map in the ecu that should make the car 100% around town drivable only needing minor fine tuning.

Here I have plotted where and how I´ll be running the boost and where it should be coming in.
Turbo is a 7blade Holset HX40 Super60
Image

This is the proposed dyno chart I have worked out. The HP1 and Torque1 would likely come out like this If I let it spool uncontrollably to 1.5bar
But I´ll see how it´s on the street with such a crazy hp change in a matter of 500rpm´s.
Image

The engine setup is going to be crazy good fun when finished. And I´ll post some videos and info of course.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Gunni, do you need standard gaskets or are you using uprated or thicker/ steel headgasket?

For headgasket sets which will have all gaskets including valve stem seals etc etc then go to GSF or Eurocarparts and get something like Victor Reinz or Goetze/ Federal Mogul or Payen as they are OEM quality and a fraction of the price a dealer would have you for.

Think my complete headgasket set for my non-vanos M50 was about £60 from GSF, that was about £180 from BMW

I´ll be giving away the headgasket if anybody want´s it as I´ll also be buying a steel gasket,
I just need all those little gaskets and stuff that comes with it.

60 for a non vanos setup sounds good to me.
I´ll have them order it on monday.

ECP are always cheaper than anywhere when ive been after M50 gaskets, for the large gaskets anyway, you will find that the smaller gaskets are cheaper from the dealers though.
Oil seals - ECP
Chains/guides - ECP, most are BMW guides with the logo's ground off
I always buy bolts from BMW

Ok, so one engine is in the engine bay.
The second one I got came with ARP´s, MLS and rebuilt.
Lucky me I guess

I might mod the cam gear to allow minor adjustments, but we´ll see if I come to a conclusion that it´s needed. I´m also on the lookout for more intake cams to possibly spice up the exhaust side just a little bit.

Here is the second engine, now in my front room where it will sit until it´s ready to go in and the other engine ready to come in for a rebuild.

I´ll probably take the head of to check that it´s actually been honed, and has new rings, And then torque down the ARP´s perfectly to remove any possible variables in assembly.

Not much going on at the moment.

The HX40 has arrived and it looks great.

The engines will both run on my very own PnP M50 VEMS standalone system (not a gutted oem ecu case with wires everywhere BTW!!).
I´ll just have to unhook the old ecu and connect the new one and start it up

It will run sequential fuel and with adjustable injection angle for maximum smoothness, emissions and mileage. The full spec list of the ecu they´ll be using is

Advanced Idle control
Boost solenoid control from inside the cabin via knob
Sequential fuel , COP ignition
400kpa MAP sensor

EGT safety guard (boost lowered if EGT rises above a specific target temp and fuel raised)
Internal wideband control for accurate fuel mixture correction during cruise and idle
Vehicle speed input from gauge cluster will allow for Boost control to be operated against speed or gear and is nice to log when tuning.

LCD to display the vital signs of the ecu for in-car monitoring.

They have the later option of
Antilag, Launch control and flatshifting.

I´ve already ordered the M50 non vanos bits but will be ordering the M50 Vanos, M52B23/B28 and Euro S50B30/32 (vanos delete) in the coming days and weeks.

Pics of the ECU very soon winkeye

What are you even saying?

Does the stock ecu do wideband mixture control, boost control?
I didn´t think so.

Does the stock one not require you to purchase a MAF that flows enough?
I think so.

Bottom line, VEMS is the cheapest most ideal option

are you planning on using an external wastegate ?

because on all of the holsets ive used i have blocked the internal off as the outlet is far too small causing the boost to creep.

tial or turbosmart do good wastegates.
