looking good Ollie bet your well chuffed on how its coming on. Must admit ive got a bucket full of respect for you as youve not gone bonkers with your E30 and chaved it up or went down the normal boy racer road of a saxo, fiesta or corsa as your first car

Thanks.
It's not looking to bad, just a couple of bits that I desperately want sorting.

looking good but this is nearly as bad as painting the boot floor with underseal

rub it all back with rough sandpaper getting it as smooth as possible, mask around the filler flap, get loads of newspaper and mask the surrounding paint work, then a few layers of primer, let it dry then using a fine grid wet and dry rub it back smooth then stick some Gloss black on

I'm not spraying inside the petrol cap, you can get fantastic finishes with a brush, flating it back and the polishing it up.
That's how they used to paint horse's cart's.
Anyway that's not finished yet, it just got to cold for paint to dry so I will finish it tommorrow.
I will flat that back, prime it, then put some gloss black on.

Looks good mate - at least you didn't unveil a lot of holes and general brown crunchiness when you took the trim outOllie_bwoii wrote:Cheers Mick.
Right now that I don't have an income, but still want to progress with my car I have done some jobs that cost me next to nothing.![]()
Petrol seal needed replacing badly, So got a good used one from kedge and cleaned it up a bit.
Nervous moment, but luckily no rust just years of durt. I cleaned it all up and painted it up with hammerite. I will flat it back and polish it up to get it looking aok.![]()
Also been cleaning up the boot, yet to finish, but waxoiled just the wells, and important areas, the rest will get a coat of black hammerite, like what I've started.
Not much but it's fulfilling my needs of working on the car.

I was utterly shocked when it was rust free just mucky as hell.
My turd just keeps suprising me, like with the rust free lip the boot seal sits on.

Yes it would imy.
Second interior clean of the year today, god I hate beige interiors.
It was a right mess, carpet was near enough brown all over, seats were filthy, seat backs had foot marks on them, so much sh1t shuved under the seats and on the floor and in door pockets, tobacoo all over the place were my mates roll fag's etc etc...... you get the idea

Still can't get some of the muck off the carpet, but it needs a new one some time anyway.
After all that I couldn't be bothered to give the old girl a wash.

Oh well its a less disgusting place to be now.
Oh and to top that off, the stereo squeeled its last breath yesterday.
Deafening me at the traffic lights in the process.

It's lasted long enough, it stops now. Interior smell has now gone, and is not coming back.

Thanks it is a lovely interior, just a pain to keep clean, hence why it stays mucky until I can't sit in it.
Jim, it was good whilst it lasted, thank you.

New headunit on its way, its a Sony CDX-GT24.
Anyone know what connector I will need or would you just solder the wires and heatshrink and not bother with a connector?

Got fed up of old headunits sounding cr4p and breaking.
And this ones quite subtle for a modern headunit.

Have you got a ISO connector already fitted? If so, then it should just be plug and play.
Nice system btw

No I have just brought from Adi, an oem stereo loom that has got no connectors like that, what connector would I need for it to be plug and play?
Is it an ISO connector that I need then?

That's remarkably similar to the head unit in mine, which I finally got wired up correctly t'other day. It now remembers where the CD was up to when I turn the car off....
I also finally got my dash lights back! Funny how just fixing those two things makes me feel like I'm driving a new car! It's been like that for about 10 months! lol.
Car's looking good Ollie..

Yeah you will need to solder in a ISO connector (though the loom might/should have one attached).
This way, it's easier to change headunits.

ISO connector is to connect to the standard plug on the back of all new head units, Chances are your car doesn't have one.
I normally go to my local scrappy and cut them out of any random car for either free or pennies.

I was talking about the connectors that should be fitted to the car and go into the plug on the left of the above photo.
If ur stereo is new it should come with the above connector althoug not necessarily.

Get rid of those Ollie and get a ISO connector hooked up, just wait till the headunit arrives to you know which one to get, they are normally universal fitment anyway.

Will do.
How do you think it will cope with my oem speakers that are in the front?
IIRC the ones I put in the back are half decent.
Alex wherever you are, can you remember what speakers they were?
