cardinal red is lovely I have the carpet, the seats are on their way somewhere, just need to locate the doorcards.

I just can't help thinking they might look shite with sterling silver ?

Red leather with silver is the best combination IMO! Do it, it will make a very special car even better!

I am working on it Howard, but red bits are bloody hard to find !

looks like the deal with some cardinal leather from the states has fallen through so it will Have a black interior until I find some more :(

the good news is the old turd is going to paint tomorow, this will be a milestone for me, lots of lovely new sterling silver paint going on

my wallet will be 2k lighter but will be worth it I hope :)

I completely trust the guy that's doing the job, his work is spot on but is there anything I should look out for ? :squint:

(I have already been round the car with a Magnifying glass marking out any imperfections )

With the car gone for 2-3 weeks I have the room in the Garage to start the engine re-build :D

well now it has gone for paint I can start on the oily bits :)

the engine in the origional green car was past it's sell by date with marks on the head and pistons and big scores down the bores :(

so a good known m20 b 2.5 was bought from a good freind (sweep) with a view to fitting a TD or ETA crank

but then.... I heard about a H27 that was breaking down near stafford 8O jumped in the van and 200 miles later this was purchased ...

A genuine H27 lump

Image

there was no way of knowing for definate if it was a 2.7/stroker the car was un-drivable and we couldn't fire it up after vandal damage on the wiring so i took the chance and handed over the readies,

how glad I am that i did :D

the stroke is about 10mm longer than my B2.5

and it had this lurking in what seems to be a new head ?

an almost new Shrick cam

Image
Image

now should I go to Gaydon or stay home in the morning and whip the sump off ?

you can whip the engine into bits any day!

I wonder if the head is reworked chambers, ports etc. Surely if there is a schrick in there its been rebuilt at some point? not that thats a problem

Pull it to bits so we can see pistons! i reckon they'll be identical to alpina 2.7 slugs bar compression ratio differences

Is there a part number on the cam? hartge used a 270 ish cam? might be a 284/272 but who knows!

the head is not a BMW item there are no markings on it ?

the inlet ports are massive and shaped differently to any i have seen (they look steeper ? ) valves are slightly bigger

it's a strange one but it is like brand new and it will be used on this build it's in lovely condition,
the cam also has markings showing 774 ? that must be a shrick thing ..

Si ..see you at Gaydon :D

Image

I also got the front legs from the H27 just because they were there, and the calipers were nice and clean

and was very suprised to see these inside :D

That is a serious collection of nice bits!!

Is it possible that the cam says 274 and not 774?

Suprised Hartge stamp bilstein shocks!!

Also, no they dont look like 25i pistons at all, the indent pocket is smaller and the pin is closer to the edge. Nice.
