Simon13 was banging on about these being NLA - I suspect things are will get sinister now that parts are drying up!DanThe wrote:Ratch is just making excuses for being a tight coont, he knows the parts are still available
I have just ordered some more tasty bit myself but I'm insured and taxed soon so I'm done!

A litlle more done today, big thanks to Dan "DanThe" for popping over with his tin of Waxoyl and for installing the rear beam ( i helped by passing him some parts !!) and removing a stubborn old snapped lug.
I wouldnt have got this far without Dan's help, seems a hot cup of coffee goes a long way, will have to beaak out the biscuits next time, mind he will have to earn those

I managed to get the Diff on myself after Dan left, oh how much fun was that
, they are quite heavy balanced on your chest whilst you fumble about trying to get the bolts started to hold the blo*dy thing up!!
Applied waxoyl to the new shiny parts and to the beam and diff, in all the important places.
A few nice new parts!!!
ARB links:

Diff mounting bolts:

The beam, diff and rear ARB ready for the trailing arms, these will go on early next week, still waiting for a couple of rear brake parts from the dealers to arrive, so they can't be fitted yet.
So the pictures:

So by the end of next week it will be a rolling shell ready for its trip to Sheffield

I used a rotary polisher on them, it removed 95% of the scratches but unfortunatley could'nt hide the deep ones, the damaged on eis obvious when you look at itSimon13 wrote:Shame that as if you had some good ones a bit of T-cut brings them up a treat. can you not get it rolling on some 'old' suspension ? I doubt matt will, but it would be terrible to see it covered in overspray

Thats a really good point. It's not the overspray, it's the dust.e30topless wrote:Paul you Hero,The_Diddler wrote:A litlle more done today, big thanks to Dan "DanThe" for popping over with his tin of Waxoyl and for installing the rear beam ( i helped by passing him some parts !!) and removing a stubborn old snapped lug.

He wouldnt dare get over spray on it! Easy enough to mask from the sills down to the floor, even better if the booth pulls the air down through the floor to filter it
When I had my wing done everything inside the wheel arch was masked up, takes literally minutes

Too late paul ive seen it,lol
I must admit it had crossed my mind that overspray would be a pain, particularly red and particularly on that lovely rear axle but we will take every care to make sure it doesnt get on there. my booth extracts through a 3 foot wide pit which the car straddles which will actually draw the paint overspray towards the underside but a bit of carefull and possibly fiddly masking should sort that.

No longer self employed but still available for welding duties.

I will admit if its raining and i fancy a spin out i will think about ittown325i wrote:paul your a fooking legend all that work and shiney new parts will this car ever see the rain though?
However if its all arranged/going to a meet/show etc and its wet, its going out, and i'm going, plus if it rains whilst out i aint got no choice.
I decided early on to have a stab at his resto lark in a amateur fashion, but the whole point for me is to appreciate driving the thing as well, i dont just want to open the garage door have a look and a quick polish and shut the door again, that would be criminal, plus a little mad.

thats what i like to see it would be pointless spending all that money to just have it sat in the garageThe_Diddler wrote:I will admit if its raining and i fancy a spin out i will think about ittown325i wrote:paul your a fooking legend all that work and shiney new parts will this car ever see the rain though?![]()

Along with a shed load of other new shiny parts, including all new A/C pipes and R134 conversion kit, this little beauty came home with me as well.

Any guesses, box will be opened by 10:30, if anybody can be bothered to check back
Little clue in the tape used...........
