Amazing numbers there, am blown away with that, was expecting about 250bhp but that's simply awesome.

Well i'm in fookin love, i've had to change my pants 4 times already today, keep on doing a little man wee everytime i hit the load peddle!
Drove the car home 130 miles from Stafford, gorgeous engine, so torquey 5th gear acceleration is addictive. Because of the 3.64 LSD matched to e36 gearbox 100mph = 5000rpm but i reckon that'll be bang on on track. This will be a hoot and that was always the plan.
Brakes are spot on too which was such a problem prior to giving the car to Dan. Complete change of plan styling wise, the plan was skirts, big rear spoiler, Dan put on a new boot lid for me with no spoiler, i love the clean lines and i cannot bring myself to drill the perfect sills so i'm going for the wolf in sheeps clothing look.
Thanks Dan, I am one happy Muzza!

Awesome result on the rollers! Dan is one of the few people I'd let near my E30, top workmanship!

Brilliant !! I bet that drive home was fun, you must have been a little nervous though??
It's a really, really nice car this, i did have a look round when i was Dan's place, one of the cleanest shells out there.
Have fun and enjoy

Drive home was huge fun, I was okay with the nerves as I had the missus with the 'ump and was in my ear 'ole as I was running late for getting my boy to a Halloween partyMuzz2676 wrote:jimbom30cab wrote:Brilliant !! I bet that drive home was fun, you must have been a little nervous though??

It is a really clean car and that's why I'm not adding side skirts and spoilers. Bit of surface rust in the driver side rear wheel arch which I'll get sorted.
Washed and polished the car this morning and put in the wheel centre caps, went out this afternoon with a mate armed with the SLR to get some nice scenic pictures, bloody blanket fog dropped in minutes, couldn't see a bloody thing so gave up and returned home.
I let my mate have a go, he's an engineer at Ford's and designed the latest Focus ST engine mounts so he spends loads of time on track and road testing, he loved the car - the power delivery, noise, handling, in fact everything, he was stunned. The only criticism were high biting point of the clutch (agreed) and the bite of the brakes, although I think that is down to only driving modern over servo'd cars too much
The initial bite is the only thing that bugs me about my brake set up, but like you say it's, probably due to driving modern stuff with over servod set ups with bless feel.
Cracking build though!

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity
M42 Supercharged 285bhp + M3 6speed box
Excellent work!

You get used to the clutch, its the same with any new sachs M20 setup on these, don't get into the habit of pressing the pedal to the floor as you will weaken the springs over time, especially when its hot. A clutch stop can be fitted if needed
EBC yellows don't work when cold

Yes mate, I did say that it was also likely to be the pads. Trackday will be when I'll get a better understanding of stopping power, tbh it felt good to me, but then my last car was a 1971 Mk1 Mexico and a horse and cart stopped better than that!DanThe wrote:You get used to the clutch, its the same with any new sachs M20 setup on these, don't get into the habit of pressing the pedal to the floor as you will weaken the springs over time, especially when its hot. Okay understood about the clutch, I'll try changing driving style a bit.
I love this car. perfect little track toy. Top job Ian & Dan!
My only small and extremely petty little quibble is the front wipers look crap... stick some standard bosch ones on instead of the crappy flippy floppy aero blades

Possibly alter the pedal or shorten the master cyl rod?DanThe wrote:You get used to the clutch, its the same with any new sachs M20 setup on these, don't get into the habit of pressing the pedal to the floor as you will weaken the springs over time, especially when its hot. Those power figures are near enough to what the old S88 did in the E28. The head design must be cracking to do that power on a single throttle body.
Lol, never even noticed. Point taken and will rectify immediatelyP_VIDDY wrote:I love this car. perfect little track toy. Top job Ian & Dan!

I'll look at doing something in the near future with regards to the clutch.Andyboy wrote:Possibly alter the pedal or shorten the master cyl rod?DanThe wrote:You get used to the clutch, its the same with any new sachs M20 setup on these, don't get into the habit of pressing the pedal to the floor as you will weaken the springs over time, especially when its hot. The car certainly goes well enough.
I forgot to mention, I did a trackday at Snetterton at the tail end of last year, still with the H&R Cup Suspension, the car performed faultlessly apart from a slight leak from the gearbox but apparently this is common with the e36 328i gearboxes when the get hot.
The car goes like absolute shit off a shovel, to put things into perspective my mate has an Exige V6 he's just paid £67k for, down the end of the Bentley Straight he was doing 130mph and I was topping 135mph, the amount of people that came into the garage we'd rented and said 'what the f@ck have you got in that!!!!???' was just comical. Bloke in a Caterham R500 was most put out
. The torque on this is just bonkers, it's like a train.
I'm glad I've got the Coilovers to fit as the H&R's were scraping the wheel arches slightly round Agastini. Ross with the mad turbo 6.0L V8 e30 is going to help me fit them (well when I say help I'm using that word loosely)
I have to say I agree with my mate, although the brakes stop the car I've got to get more feel into them, i was recommended a brand of brake fluid which I promptly forgot, I'll try that as its a cheap fix.
In all honesty I'm only going to be able to do three or so track days tops a year and probably only get out for a blat on the very occassional summers day but it's nice having this in the garage for when the fancy takes me. All credit to Dan, I'm just the bloke with an idea, he did all the work.
Looking at how the prices for good e30's are going, I might even break even in a few years

Yellows at the minute
cost me £120 as I couldn't buy anything else off the shelf.
I can get some made by Mintex with their racing compound which is supposed to be very good, need to get the order in really.
Im sure I've got some new Ferodos that will fit yours, bit more of a road pad but will be loads better
