Rust situation mate is:
Very small local repair to the roof - it's very good under the headlining just a small place which has gone, maybe 5mm x 5mm
Drivers sill repair needed
Both jacking points obviously
Small repair by the filler flap and it's again very good round the arches, just this small place.
It was restored 5 years ago so not bad really

Busy day today.
4 weld repairs done
coolant changed, new bleed screw fitted and tank scrubbed out.
Replaced gear selector arms with a spare set up i had with new bushes and a Z3 short shift kit- what a pain but it now means i don't have to remove the centre console to get it in reverse.
Also replaced the gearbox mounts as they were both sheared in two and completely detached from the box. Shocking really.
Replaced the rear shocks which were terrible with some nice Bilstein ones.
Oil and filter change
Replaced clutch reservoir and bled through the system.
Replaced the sunroof panel with a rust free version !
I also got a really nice carpet from an old breaker as the old one had turned into a clutch fluid sponge !
Just need to paint the weld repair sections and put it all back together
Then we're on the road !!!

Probably mate, but not this year. Just tarting it up so it's ok to drive about this year without breaking down or getting wet feet. Will do a proper job next year on this. Cheers mate.

Cracking on with this little black number tonight thanks to Andy helping me out.
I thought the brakes were a bit....non existant !! So bleeded the system and found the rear nearside caliper emitted no fluid, turned out there was a blockage in the caliper, so changed that and we have a nice firm brake pedal again. All the discs, pads and flexi's are good also.
There was a damaged HT lead, no 3 cylinder lead had come away from the connector, so that was replaced and whilst at it I fitted a new Dizzy cap and rotor arm and 6 new spark plugs.
Finally, stripped down the inlet system and gave everything a good clean with carb cleaner. No vacuum leaks found and she purrs like a kitten. Pleased to find very little, if any, oil in the TB and boot so the lump should be in reasonable condition.
Couple of Pics

These are the 2 essential bits of welding which are planned for Thursday

The list of things to do is getting shorter but still plenty to go

Not too much to report tonight
Changed the GB oil, adjusted the handbrake, stripped down the clocks to sort a couple of defects, sealant added to the top of the steering column and a bit of general faffing about.

Battery tray now sorted, ready for a little dressing off and seam seal

Rusty sill repaired

Spent the kids lego money at the stealers

and when the fuel filter turns up.....
I can fit some new fuel hose also

Got a few more new bits to fit tomorrow
K+N panel filter
Radiator shroud
Both V belts
Fuel filter
Wiper blades
Following that, the interior needs to be scrubbed to death and re-fitted and it's almost ready to get in and enjoy

It's definitely a twenty foot car this one, don't look any closer than 20 ft.
But hopefully it will be reliable and dry !

Nice from afar but far from nice?
Think your being a bit harsh on your efforts there Jim, it's looking really good and even of not as good as the other shell your on with it will still be better than a lot out there.

I think we're nearly there now with this
Got a new rad shroud and some nice white fittings from BM. Eventually the fuel filter came so Andy changed the filter and all the hoses+clips in the engine bay.
The interior was scrubbed to death and a fresh coat of black carpet dye applied.
To finish off we changed both aux belts and did 101 other little bits like wiper blades, washer fluid etc etc.
Back on the road now and will be my daily hack for a while.
As always there is more to do....but further update to follow when the AVEZ and ICE arrive

We're off to give it a good test drive today

To be honest Pete, it looks well used on the outside and due a resto.
Andy is actually a net debtor to his employeer, the bulb blew in the inspection lamp he was using last week.

Well, I made it into work ok this morning.
Couple of issues
I heard the "tang tang" as a centre cap fell off but managed to pull in and recover it.
Slight miss-fire on warm idle but I have a lead on what it probably is.....looks like a cylinder head change is on the cards, lucky I have a spare good one.

Ride height
Basically for me it was too low but odd...it was very low and also very soft on the springs so there was quite a bit of body roll etc. I really didn't like it at all
So now it's sitting an inch higher at the rear and about 3/4 of an inch higher at the front.
Much less roll, car feels much more planted and better to corner with
Well Happy
