Before messing about with wheels and lowering. Make sure you do thorough inspection of the shell for rust, sort that oil leak, get the engine running right and replace any items that are worn.

The body is pretty nice, reason i brought it! there is some tiny bits of surface rust but no bubbling or anything. And as for the oil leak i still need to find out whats causing it :( Car will be going for a service soon to sort out the tappets/timing :)

Doesn't look it in my opinion. I've always known 4pot BMWs to have single exits and 6pots to have twins...but those are too small for a stock 6pot twin exit.

Ahh fair enough, i know a new exhaust isn't always a tasteful mod but i think my current one looks terrible

Try polishing with Autosol chrome polish.

Also, you could try rubbing them with tin foil damped with water, which is a surprisingly good rust remover on chrome!

You can sometimes buy individual sections from various sources (try Cotswolds on here), but beware of cheap chrome from the likes of ECP/GSF, as they tend to rust very quickly.

Here's a piece on E-bay:

Splitting chrome bumpers are a nightmare. Everything will be sized and rusted, not worth the bother.

I would say yes, since they should help preserve the life and stiffness of the new bushes.

Those are for the front wishbones, not the rear subframe!

These are what you want:

Car is going in the garage in the next week to sort the oil leak and cutting off, also got myself some 35mm lowering springs and in the process of buying a set of x-spokes! Any other exterior mods that i should think about?

I would be looking closely at the fuel cut-off solenoid screwed into the side of the carb; they need an ignition-switched +12V to them, and if there's a dodgy connection or duff valve, that will be a likely cause of intermittent cut-outs.

No news yet bud, its been in storage for a while and its due an MOT so thought i would kill 2 birds with one stone! Springs are ready to be fitted and just waiting for a set of wheels. And as for the cutting out its really weird, its fine when its being driven or its being revved but soon as its stationary it will cut off, does sound like its running out of fuel tbh!

Its a set of x spokes and a subtle drop enough? cant put my finger on it but seems like it wont be 'finished'

Try removing and cleaning out the idle jet using carb cleaner and compressed air to blow it through.

I wouldn't have thought so - Alpina would have lowered them by about that much.
