Jim's Chromie Thread - Hail Storm Aftermath
Moderator: martauto
That all looks pretty standard to be fair Jim. If your not using it at the moment now is the time to drop the rear beam and get everything cleaned back underneath.
Get the rot chopped out ASAP.

Behind the filler neck its not too bad... Need to get it on axle stands really and just go to work on it... I dont have power in my unit which is a bit of a ball ache. The filler neck itself needs replacing but I already have a good one I stashed some time back. Same with another fuel tank which is also being replaced when I get to that stage.
And shes a keeper regardless to be honest, if it needs sorting, I'll sort it, I dont use the car for work as im breaking E30's from home which is keeping me going (The glamour of it...) and it suits me alot as I get to keep an eye on all the dogs.
At the moment, the rear beam is staying on her Kedge as I want to get her resprayed, hit what I need to before she goes back on the road to just stop anything getting worse, then when I have the spare rear end powdercoated and built up ready to put on, i'll drop the old off and then sort out everything within a few days with some help from local zoners
And friends alike to get it all prepped so to speak, then pop the new rear end on, but until the other is built and finished with all new parts then I will be leaving it as she is.
The arches from in theside of the boot looks spot on, the outer lip looks good too, there is a slight rusty bit down on the passenger side front of the rear wheel arch near the rear beam bush part, so that needs poking and cutting out and welding when she goes for paint, but that guy will do that
I just want to find it all and highlight it so he knows.
Again, at the moment, the underside was just to check and remove a few bits, theres still a few scabby bits underthere i'll attack and treat for now but until the time comes I wont be going mental with that bit yet...

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Dezzy, the Sunglasses were for work when I was painting house white in the summers a few years back... They were free from my dads work and the wall was reflecting loads of light so needed them... Now I just wear them when im looking cool

Kedge, I dont want to frag this one, I prefer to frag mint ones...

Anyway, fook off, i'm gonna make her better, while I do one end, the other end can fester, then vice versa for the rest of my life

Fook all today Dan, sorted the unit out which took hours as it was crap backed upto the door. Seperated the rear arms off a beam I have sitting here which I may use for powder coating, just wanted to see which one was better out of the 2 I have. This on is a little crusty. Then it started pishing it down so came in.
Tomorrow is suppose to be
Shades weather apparently so gonna strip some more of the breaker for fleabay and see what time I have for the chromie...
Need to get some new axle stands though, and a higher lifting jack to make life alot easier. So think some money is gonna have to go that way first as at the moment I have one axle stand after crushing the other a few breakers ago

Jim, i've got a Halfrauds traders card if you want to get some of their tools. I'm off after Wednesday night. Think it gets their axle stands down to about £16. They're doing an offer on two stands and a high lift jack at the moment as well, i could do with a new jack.

Cheers Dave... Been trying to find some quite tall stands as im quite tall so its nice to have some space for my oddly long arms...
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255207
48cm At their highest or
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... xle-stands
50cm at their highest, so the first ones would be ideal as they a few quid cheaper and if you can get them even cheaper than that too
As for a Jack... I'm unsure as I have a bog standard small halfrauds jobbie one which is just fine and some old thing which is the same kinda thing... Just wanted something that had a bit more height in the lift too. Need to check the lift on my current one though as they might not reach the right height for these stands
If the current one is high enough, i'll only need to buy me some stands and be happy...
If I had a proper unit with good walls and a real floor I'ld go buy a proper lift on the old credit card and worry about it later but I got no where to put one

Matt...

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/tools ... 2&0&t5_231
They are 42cm at their highest
The ones I listed earlier are 50cm or so... But it depends on the price I suppose 8 cm can be lost if the price is loads different.
You also do these

I'd be able to run under the car with them bad boys, just not got a jack to get it up that high

See what you can find and give me a shout if you get a quite moment tomorrow

Sunday is sound with me!
