it's staying sterling silver I hate to change an original colour doesn't really need all painting but I don't want any imperfections
thought i better have a fresh start with a full re-spray including boot and engine bay while it is empty
oxblood would be great but I have silver/grey for now, maybe when funds allow,
this turd owes me a small fortune and it looks like scrap at the minute

engine and oily bits out and ready for the paint shop

can't believe how clean it all is after a good de-greasing still..I want the engine Bay painting

found the only bit of surface rust on the entire shell
I rust proofed it and primed

can't wait for it to go for paint so i can get on with building the M20

I am lucky enough to have lots of Hartge booklets including fitting instructions to replicate thisgazm3 wrote:How did you attach the rear valance fella.
I have a Hartge kit to add to my cab, purchased from Iain.
fitting is brutal but i want to get it as origional as can be
I used 7 Stainless Self tapping screws and zinc primed the holes
I also used seam sealer given to me by the bodyshop (think it's called tiger seal) for the top edge

I do have a scanner but I can't get the damn thing working !gazm3 wrote:Yep thats what I need.
Its a chrome cab kit. My cab is the same colour as Iains also.
Do the side skirts get colour coded?.
Do you have a scanner mate?
will give the booklet to the office staff in the morning and let them do it
will post the results
Check US eBay for red interiors.
You will never find red seats but red door cards and arm pulls come up quite often and they are the bits you cannot replicate.
Re-trim for the seats - it's the only way for a resto of this quality and to be honest beats any manky cracked red interior you do find. Use the correct leather, grainless buffalo, and tell them to fit it tight over the seat with minimal backing/padding for that tight shiny E30 look.
Red carpets still available from BMW for £300ish last time I checked - can there be anything better than a brand spanking new carpet?

searched high and low for them ! do I owe you a new Viscous and radiator or did you find them before they ruined anything ?he30 wrote:wonder if the've got any blue ones?![]()
How's it comming along Steve? may bob in when i'm next passing and give you your pliers back from under my bonnet
just gimme a shout if your passing
They don't - that's what I was after too. Picked up a mint 6 cylinder carpet used, which after a steam looks new. 6 cylinder carpet has the better sound deadening and is much plusher.he30 wrote:wonder if the've got any blue ones?
The problem with used Cardinal Red seats is they are ALWAYS beaten up - bad.
I can probably get you a deal at B-Trim if you want. They've done 3 cars for me and do dealer work so they are the best in the biz and have loads of swatches.
New carpet, new re-trim and tidy door cards and you're set.
Of course the mechanicals should all be 100% but when you're in the car and driving, if you want it to feel new and solid you must have new interior and especially contact points (wheel/knob) and make sure the clutch and pedal are all tight etc. Nothing worse than a nice new looking car that's all baggy to drive.

Scroll down and there is a pair of door panels.On_a_Roll wrote:The problem with used Cardinal Red seats is they are ALWAYS beaten up - bad.
Off topic, have you any pics of you retrimmed seats?
I haven't been to collect yet - they're so far from me (only Enfield but it's a mish getting up there).
Here's the E46 they did for me, in original BMW Saddle Tan Buffalo with Air Bag embossing in the door panels and they added heated elements to the seats too, I then wired in the loom and the switch panel (E46 Can Bus Electronics run everything!):

www.b-trim.co.uk - They are by far the best in the business and always have top cars in there. I'm talking RR Phantoms, Gallardos and the like - always lots of E30's too.
Front and rear sport seats will run you around £800 depending on hide. I would take the opportunity to have them fit their OEM German heating elements for another £200 and they wire directly into the E30 heating loom - you will have a PHAT interior then - just like mine but Red instead of Indigo.
Pricey perhaps but do not confuse their work with £500 re-trim you see being offered - their work is indistinguishable from factory. Last time I was up there, they were removing £10,000 of Maybach Black Leather to be replaced with another £15,000 White Leather! It's insane! Cars like the Maybach probably have the finest trim on earth and these guys match or exceed it.
If you do it through me I could probably get you a pretty decent discount, happy to take you up there if and when you want to do it.

The Coupe Door panels have black arm pulls which is criminal and illegal.bss325i wrote:Scroll down and there is a pair of door panels.
There's also a 4 door set on there with the correct red arm pulls and pockets which will fit a 2 door.
So you'd need to buy both those sets and you'd still be short the rear 3Q trims!
Cardinal Red is a real pain to get hold of but that's why it's so cool.
I'm on the West Coast at the moment visiting a buddy who's kid just bought a mint 325eS with very mint - Cardinal Red SPORT interior! Immaculate too, rear headrests and parcel shelf in red!
The car is a vile white chromie but has A/C, Cruise and 6-Speaker Door Pod audio - man the american E30's are so loaded it makes me sick.
