roumer on the grape vine is that some S14's lumps made about 360bhp. a futher 40 bhp is a big ask, i'm no s14 expert but demlot knows how far these engines have been taken as does the german gorilla.bss325i wrote:From a N/A S14, i doubt it.maxfield wrote:You could easily attain this from a 4 pot though
maybe they could shed some light on how far they have been pushed.

Hi,
Pity that Paul [Newbold] was given such a hostile reception when he
first posted by some of the '' E30 Zone members''.
Still as they say '' empty drum bangs the loudest''.
On the S14 yes, there are a couple of German Tuners who build
2.7 and 2.9 ltr S14'S that are normally aspirated.
There are several 2.9 Ltr S14 engines with over 400 BHP, but these are
Race engines and will need to be rebuilt very frequently.
Schnitzer are one of a few Tuners that built 2.9 ltr / 400 BHP + S14 engines.
As an example on a power to weight ratio and assuming that the
drive train is up to it, you would need over 380 BHP in a E46 M3 to
equal the car in the Paul Newbold clip, even the E46 M3 CSL would
be left wanting.
On the 400 + BHP S14 engines, you would need over 450 BHP from your
E46 M3 and many GT3/2 Porsche's are well embarrassed on the Track.
Even the M3 GTR struggles against the monster S14's.
Not bad for a 20 year old + engine design.
When you consider that a S50 B32 Conversion into a E30 is circa 7-9K +
all day long to do properly, and the car is a little front end heavy with
around 310 BHP on a good day, then 330 BHP for 12-13k +, with the
weight saving and of course the Power to weight ratio gain over the
6 pot, starts to make a lot of sense.
Regards,
The Gorilla.
