owned the car for around a year and used to belong to my granddad (was kept in a garage and used rarely so the paint was immaculate. Although I lost control in the wet before I bought the pirellis and it smashed into a roadsign so i needed a new front panel which will be sprayed next week

Would advise maybe some bigger wheels like 15" BBS. I used to have 14" BBS, but noticed it looked a lot better with the 15" BBS and didn't cost an arm and a leg to do.

thanks guys, I agree with you about the 14" alloys they are quite small but I think the car just about gets away with the size without looking too underwheeled. they are a bugger to clean though

I like to keep it as standard as possible as I love the standard look of the E30 and the last thing i'd do would be to add things like neons/blacked out lights etc.

I would mod it with parts from higher spec E30s though as long as the funds allow! e.g. leather seats and possibly a 325i conversion would be great!

Ive also got a 318, but only have the standard pea shooter exhaust!! Would like more noise from mine so maybe a stainless steel system in the new year!!!

Very Nice exapmle bud, she does look a minter Definately drop the 15"'s on there....I've got to put my original 14"'s back on this week... oh well...And yes, they are a beeeyach to clean

here is a pic of the interior. would really like a leather interior , but also a 2.5 engine, Alpina alloys etc but I think I'm going to have to save a while if i'm to do that.

i'd say the performance of the 318i M40 engine isn't too bad. It's been up to over 130mph before on the flat which I surprised me. The pipercross air filter also sounds great and gives the engine a bit of character

have spent quite a bit of time and money on the old girl already..

new sound system (junked the heavy old multi changer)
new Pirelli tires (old tires might as well have been made out of plastic)
new car mats
new euro style number plates
refurbished alloy wheel
Pipercross induction kit and heat shield
twin exit stainless steel exhaust tailpipe
new brakes
new clutch cylinders
new gearnob
new instrument cluster
new front panel (my fault)
respray of front panel (my fault)
new badges front and rear
new wheel badges

I service the car myself though so it saves a lot of money doing that.

I bought the car for 500 quid orignally off my granddad and I've spent around 800 on the car just doing it up. but i'd spend it every time!

Sweet little e30. I like how you have been spending - all the right areas (repairs and appropriate upgrades). In my honest opinion, i would sack the 325 conversion and the interior and just keep it as standard as possible - it looks amazing as it is. In my experience, once you start playing with things... things go wrong! LOL. Plus you could pick up a dirty old 325 for not alot if you want a rag slag.. then keep the 318 as your weekend minter

As for the wheels - again just my opinion, the 14's would look ok with a mild drop in ride height (20 maybe 30mm?) which I know is a non standard mod, but i think its one that is more than acceptable like the stainless exhaust.

Either way, keep looking after it as your grandad did - very nice car!

Lovely original 318 you have there. One thing you seem to have neither fog lights or fog blanks. Where have they gone?

I agree with you jonmsm about skipping the 325 conversion. It would be easier keeping it as it is seen as it runs nicely anyway and i'm a strong believer in "if it aint broke don't fix it". I can imagine they'll be a lot of hassle converting it. It would be a lot easier for me to get an old ragslag 325 just to enjoy the performance and keep the other for looks. I'm using my car at the moment for a daily runner (have been since I've owned it), and it drives very nicely for a near 18 year old car !

cheers wildew, you picked up on an interesting point there. After it hit a post a few weeks ago the foglight cover on the driver side was slightly damaged so to make it look even I took the other side off for now too.

seen as they're both now off would anyone know if it would be an easy task to fit some e30 front fogs on there?

Very easy fogs can be purchased on ebay along with the switch and reay required. Fixing can still be purchased from bmw (is easier to get brand new complete fixing kit as this is not expensive. Wiring should be in place behind your head lamps is just a case of feeding down in to postion.
