I am amazed there are so many still around!

The one on the left looks like a 2.9i XR4x4, those were just a bit rapid, my dad had two, one after the other, back in the day.

This may be a sacriligeous question, but how does a well sorted XR4x4 compare to a 325i?

Those old Sierras are cheap as chips. I guess the prob is more finding one that isn't a rot box.

A well sorted 4x4 will out corner a 325i speed wise, the 4x4 system is a very good one, but to be honest the BMW is all round a nicer drive, as much as I love Sierras you really need a cosworth to keep up with the driving pleasure of the E30 especially as a sorted E30 is what we know as an M3 lol.

The Sierras need a fair amount of upgrading before they are near as good as a stock BMW on a ride/handling balance.

There are loads that arent rusty at all, the trouble is the sill drain holes block, causing them to go at the rear of the sills....ive had 2 that have gone there, if you can find one that has been undersealed/jetwashed occasionally there are some very solid ones, my early Mk1 is perfect underneath 8)
