Story so far.......
I found out there was a turd lurking in a garage that needed shifting so went and had a look. thought it was going to be a state but apart from the dust covering it it looked half decent. So I lumped the battery pack on it flicked the key and everything lit up great, all the electrics worked (even the windows) it cranked over lovely but didn't fire (To be expected). I didn't want to come come across very keen but I was well chuffed inside. Told the guy I would do him a favour and peeled off 300 sheets for him and the deal was done.......

The 30 was then put back into hibernation as I had just bought a house and her indoors wouldn't have been too happy. Nearly 12 months after getting the turd the time had come to take it home......."Missus-what are you doing to the garden? Me-errrr just bringing the new project home for abit until it goes up the garage"........

After a clean off I was very happy with its condition. I was told it has spent a lot of time garaged and to be fair, I can believe it.

The original idea was to turn it into a drift toy (please dont hate) I have a 13B-REW kicking around and thought they would compliment each other.

Then I saw the price of these things when standard and that idea was shelved (the dorito lump will get used on something in the future) So then I was left with a choice in direction. Keep it true to its build sheet and fix the 1.6..........or build a nice M20B25 lump and keep the 316i looks. I have decided on the later.
So the hunt was on for a new heart for the turd. That came from a nice chap off here (Lee)

Engine has been my main focus recently, and I will get to the car later.
So I have had lots of thoughts and read lots of your threads regarding M20 builds and I think I now know which way to go. I did have my heart set on a turbo build but have listened to a few of you on here (You know the e30 better than anyone) Stroker it will be.....I'm also toying with the idea of ITBs, Byrons build looks great!!
Strip down of the lump commences........

Now on to the head....

I may need some help/info with regards to grinding out for hemispherical head

Some other bits that have kept me occupied.....
E36 compact rear set up / e36 evo front hubs = 5stud conversion and capable of running bolt on coilovers (no cutting and welding to fret about). Also picked up some lemforder e36 evo arms too (Thanks James)

Well that's about where I am at currently. Thanks to all the other guys who have supplied me bits and given me advice, I appreciate it. Will update when I have more.
Cheers,
Russ
