Purchased my first touring today, didn’t think I would ever own one but this one caught my eye, so thought I would start of another build thread of the progress that will be made in the coming weeks.

It’s a 325i touring, 107k on clock, 10 owners, HPI Clear, manual and lachs silver :)

Purchased it from London, drove back smoothly and very comfortable, will need a service as don’t think its been done for a while and coolant change along with all the usual stuff.

Some extras are Spax lowering springs all around (to low for a touring I know), full black leathers and 13 button OBC. I’ve also noticed it has sum guard fitted and raised engine mounts!!

Plans”¦.

1) Carry out service
2) Change fluids
3) Raise car so probably put standard springs back in
4) IS splitter
5) Full machine polish
6) Wet vac carpets and treat leathers
7) H.I.D kit and L.E.D bulb upgrades
8 Refurb wheels and source some caps”¦
9) Replace rear badge
10) Sort rear wiper connection out for the washer fluid
11) Once wheels removed clean all arches and protect
12) Steam clean engine bay
13) Speedo temperamental, possible loose wires on diff
14) Remove sub wires

That’s it for now, probably will add to the list”¦

only picture i have so far...

Update 16/12/15

Have been busy since i purchased the car university, today was the first day I've driven it since purchasing it, drives really well, collected the service bits for it today and will get it done on the weekend, took a few pictures of each angle and the rear inner arches, quite clean. Also had an hour to spare so hoovered the inside and cleaned the dash and leathers...added a few things to the to do list :)

Engine : It has the HLWW but haven't got the headlight washers, so going to remove the bottles and source a single one, also some sensor is cable tied to the inlet, need to relocate that in its original position!

Update : 20/12/2015

Finally had some sunshine! had the oppurtinity to give the car its first wash, also jet washed the engine bay, still think it needs another go. I did carry out a full machine polish, i never noticed how bad the paint work was before, so i did the machine polish, pre-wax to remove any swirl marks left, wax and paint sealer to keep its shine :) also polished the glass and replaced the rear boot badge with a clean one :)

Update 02/01/2016

Happy New Year All :)

Managed to get my touring serviced (plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter) while changing the plugs i noticed the HT leads were knackered so had to order a new set from GSF. Just to drain the oil was a pain as there was a lump of steel cover the sump (sump guard) its well fabricated or is it a pre-made one? theres also a protective cover under the front of gearbox, at least its extra protection for the underneath :) also someone had grinded some of the bolt of the sump plug so was a pain to remove and it wasn't even fully tight with a drip of oil leaking out!! anyhow i had to remove the oil cooler vent to remove the nuts for the sump guard also a pain!!

Guards....

Also managed to source a set of clear indicators, bbs caps yes there are not in the greatest of conditions but will be getting refurbed and a IS splitter, however i have come across tech 2 touring pods and skirts so I'm thinking of what to do now??

Update 19/01/2016

Well I've been very busy with university commitments but now I've got some spare times, I've started working on the car. I never intended to go down the M-Tech 2 root but i came across a cheap kit which i couldn't refuse, also bagged a bargain for a complete set of genuine touring pods from Germany.

So i now have a complete kit to my name without the touring spoiler of course, searching the German eBay again, i bagged another bargain for some smoked Hella smoked headlights! i think i may fit these to my convertible not quite sure yet. In the last couple of days I've removed all 4 bbs wheels to refurb, I've fitted my deep dish set of wheels for time being, they do look quite good to be fair but won't be staying on!

For buyers piece of mind once it comes to selling, i thought ill remove the rust on the lower valance, luckily it wasn't rotten. I've removed the SE skirts and quite impressed thats its not rusted and still its original colour! I've cleaned up all 4 arches, but will jet wash them for parts i couldn't scrub off! the front driver wing had bubbling so i sanded the wing back down, passenger side is good, in the past by the looks of it someone has had bigger wheels causing some paint peel of the lip of the arch and front wings, so will need to touch them up!

Rear arches are solid including inner arches, back valance is tidy, looks like its had a repair in the past but at least its not rusted! only remembered to take pictures of drivers side! also it has grooved discs and Brembo pads all around with Spax springs and Sachs shocks!

Ordered various clips and stuff from cotwold, ready to start fitting the kit! I've put 2 wheels in primer along with the BBS caps, going to start fitting the kit this week, fingers crossed!! its just so cold!!!!

Its always exciting receiving deliveries and opening them!!!

Update 27/1/2016

Update 14/02/16

Well all the kit is fitted, correct tyres have been fitted to the standard bbs wheels, back wiper fixed and clear indicators fitted :)

Its been a pleasure doing this car, just a few bits left, next is to sort the passenger wing out and possible do the mirrors again.

Paid BMWMAD a visit :)

Next on the list is to order a set of car mats, rear light seals, fit smiley headlights, refresh all the grills in satin black and the kidney grill in gloss black, fit HID's and all led bulbs :)

Update 11/03/16

Haven't really been on here lately but done a few things to both e30s, i had some MHW rear lights fitted to the touring but didn't think they suited it so of they went and back to standards, had some smiley headlights from the convertible so fitted them, made a nice difference and re sprayed the front grills, also fitted a 1 piece gear knob!

Also had the brake fluid drained and all brakes bled with new fluid. After being left by my unit where road works were taking place my paint surface went all rough so 2 full days of light machine polishing and clay bar and topped of with wax and sealer! came out really nice!! some latest pictures below..

Was the change over year. Face lifts came in in 87 for the "88 model year".

Would be interesting to know what number touring this is touring number one is already on here and owned by Capri rob. I'd say this could be a close relation on the production line.

Nice! Its amazing what a full service does for these engines! 8)

Also maybe the sump plug was bottoming out which caused it to grind half of it off making the previous owner get the guard after? (just a thought)

Loving your progress man..keep it going! :thumb:
