And bought another car for the mrs, 130i. I'm quite impressed as modern isn't really my thing

It's horrid, need a weekend with a jet wash and weed killer. Every spare weekend I have I seem to be chasing my tin worm and repairing something else

Well, it's been a while since I posted up on here, been gathering bits and bobs here and there for the old girl,
Firstly it had rear drums which had nothing wrong but I'd rather disks so picked these up complete for £50
Image
Gave them a good clean up, lick of paint and new brake lines and cables.
Then my poor little open diff finally gave up from the abuse and went pop in traffic on a Monday morning. Seemed pointless putting another open diff back in so I found a 3.91 LSD on the bay and snapped that up, again new gasket, oil and a lick of paint after an internal inspection
Image
After fitting all that and it driving ten times nicer I thought about upgrading the power side of things, although the trusty b20 still pulled well, just wasn't enough. Went shopping for a b25 as I want to keep the bay looking similar to original. I bought what I believed to be a b25 and turned out to be 2.5 head on a b20 block. Never mind sold that on and dropped it off at pacers for him to then find I'd been stitched unknowingly and turned out 3 of 6 Pistons have holes in them and bent a majority of the valves
Image
Image
After that I bought an 87 b25 that I thought boom chuck a belt on it and throw it in, the belt but didn't really happen, I after taking the belt cover off I got carried away. Well here's before and after
Before Image
AfterImage
A couple of in between pics Image
Image
So at this point and only taking half a day to swap everything over, it went wrong. Early loom and I had bits missing and all sorts being wrong, here's where I got too
Image
I've been back to pacers again and bought everything facelift, spliced the looms together last night so all being good it'll be back on the road tomorrow.
I also spotted this on eBay for a nifty and couldn't resist really as I think the original looked boring
Image
More progress to follow

Nice work, but the silver on black plates are absolutely rank. It's not a seventies Marina, it's an eighties BMW and needs the correct plates (the ones it had before....).

I don't mind the steel wheels. At least you know you can count on them when you really need them!

And then this happened. It looks like I drive into him. However after a very heated road rage incident, his retaliation was to reverse into my car very hard. Luckily I have 2 witnesses on my side and he's lied in his statement which hopefully will go my way too. Doesn't look as bad as it was, bent beyond visable items.

Well I've started the repairing, insurance said its a write off.
Image
Got some nice chrome bits to replace the bent bits and the rear section
Image
I decided to 'modify' an old valance, I've made it an inch deeper, welded up the fog light holes and the random square dent bit in the middle
Image
This is as it stands, I have new wings and waiting on paint

Good post, this! An inspiration to others of what can be done to turn a mess that might make some owners lose heart, into pristine metal again, in just a couple of hours, using the tool we can see in the background of the third pic.

Well it's been to the bodyshop, had a big spruce up. Done a few other bits and the front corners of the floor remade and welded in. Slowly coming together. Just bought a 540i doner so that's next on the list
