I have just finished installing an e36 M3 Mishimoto rad in the car.
The car had an original BMW e36 M3 rad in it, there was nothing wrong with it and the coolant temperatures were fine but I liked the sound of the extra 30% cooling capacity.
The rad fitted in nicely as Glenn had already made the bottom mounts.
To fit this in a standard car all you need to do is fabricate a couple of bottom mounts on the chassis rails where the rubber mounts sit on the bottom of the rad.
I modified the original e30 top mount to suit.
I renewed all the hoses with a mixture of genuine BMW and silicon hoses.
This was a difficult job as the M5 engine has two flow and return hoses and the e36 rad only has one of each resulting in the use of lots of connectors and tee pieces etc in a small space.
The car sits for longer in traffic now before the fan cuts in and the fan hardly comes on at all when moving.
I installed a piece of cardboard on the front of the rad to protect the fins whilst I did the trial fitting after spending an hour straightening them out after I dented some of them !
I went to a breakfast meet at Shelsley walsh hillclimb today, It was funny seeing peoples reactions as they saw it has a v10 fitted. Mostly they went through a similar routine consisting of saying ****ing hell, then calling their mates over, followed by photographs
They were all very complimentary of the engine installation and the car in general with some people saying that it would be the car what they would take home given the choice.
